Sony Ericsson m600i - iSync

I have recently gotten my hands on the most perfect phone for me; the Sony Ericsson m600i. UMTS & triband GSM.

However, it does not sync with OS X.

I have managed to get it paired with OS X, as well as getting it recognised with iSync, but when the isync app is being installed on the phone, the phone complains that the app installation script is no longer supported (this is a UIQ3.0 phone).

Please, please help. I am replacing my ipaq 4700 with this phone, but I need the address book and the calendar.

Thank you in advance.

I've been looking into this, and so far it appears that an iSync update from Apple may be required to sync this phone. It uses Symbian OS v9.1 and UIQ v3.0, whereas previous Symbian Sony Ericsson phones such as the recent P910 use Symbian OS v7.0 and UIQ v2.1.

It is rumoured that the forthcoming 10.4.7 update has updates to iSync, so hopefully you won't have long to wait. http://www.thinksecret.com/news/0606briefly.html

In the meantime, you may be able to get contacts onto the phone by sending vCards from Address Book via Bluetooth.

I recently got the same phone, switching from the s700i. I wasn't able to get the contacts exported from Address Book on my pone via Bluetooth. The only way to get my contacts into my new phone was to export the whole phone book from my old phone via bluetooth to my mac and then export it to my new m600i. I now have all my contact, but still no calender events... 😟 Hoping for an updated iSync in near future..

Welcome to Apple Discussions.

This site is well known for its support of SONY Ericsson mobile handsets and smartphones. The list linked here indicates that the M600 family is not yet supported, but I would expect that they will soon offer a plug-in:

I would only say be patient, Apple's iSync does support SE phones quite well, just that they are not as fast as releasing the latest updates, I would imagine the latest newest, like the SE M600i and the up and coming (finally) P990i would only be supported in the next 1 or 2 OS (iSync) Updates

Very odd, OS 10.4.7 coincides with the M600i becoming available, yet lacks support. I sent Apple feedback at the end of 2005 requesting iSync support for this phone, but now we're probably going to have to wait months until the next update.

High horse: it's so irritating when people make posts saying "don't write it here, send Apple feedback". As this lack of M600i support shows - sending feedback feels like an utterly pointless activity.

Sorry, but we (nova media) can't create a plugin. The M600i is Symbian OS 9.1, so the agents Apple has created for UIQ phones are not compatible, since they are for Symbian 7.0. The M600i refuses to install them. In contrast to Nokia Symbian 9.1 phones the M600i does not support SyncML, so that's also no way. Last chance IrMC, also not supported. The only synchronisation the M600i supports is HTTP, so we see no way to support it at the moment. Apple could create a Symbian 9.1 compliant agent, but we have no idea whether they are planning to do so.

Totally wrong. M600i uses SyncML for all of the sync operations including BT sync. This is very clearly documented in M600i developer white papers. So if Nova guys know their stuff they should be able to easily (OK... so its OS 9.1 so you have to do some reading) create the plug.

Well, I think if ALL of us go to this page
http://www.apple.com/feedback/isync.html ASAP
and send them an email, they MIGHT realize there's a
world out here hoping for support on the M600i. I am
doing it right now... maybe once a day!
