iPhone 4 facetime not working

For some reason Facetime in my iPhone 4 is not working. This started last week only. Everything is working except for this. iPhone 5 and iPads are working though. Any idea how I can fix this? Are you also having the same problem?

I had to turn my phone off for about 15 minutes. Then I turned it back on and re-set my WIFI password. After that, I activated my Facetime and iMessages and everything worked perfectly.

The first time I tried to activate Facetime before I restarted my phone and it didn't work, so just start over by turning your phone off for a few minutes and then turn it back on. Don't try to activate Facetime until after you have restarted your phone.

Hi, Thanks to everyone's replies.

My iPhone4 Facetime is now working again.😁

I updated to IOS 7.0.3

Then I had to go into manage my account https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/wa/directToSignIn remove my iPhone number from daytime and put it into mobile and save it.

I then reset my network settings.

I then did a hard boot of my iPhone.

I then reconnected to my WiFi.

Then wait 5mins approx.

I then checked in settings that Messages had iMessages on and that Facetime was on too.

Bingo

Under setting go to facetime check that only your number is checked, if you have any other Iphones or Ipads do the same, but make sure your number is only checked on your phone, if you see it checked anywhere else delete it or uncheck it, also make sure your e mail address is only on your phone. Its seems if your ID's are on any other devise the FaceTime doesn't know were to go . Turn off your Icloud setting for now, You need to delete your contacts that you facetime to and reinstall them under contacts, some how there is a conflick between ICloud contacts and your phone contacts when it updates your phone. I could not use facetime for a month, went back and forth with Apple until one of their senion tech's gave me this info, my phones facetime now.

Finally after 3 months, the problem is resolved with this new update.

Updated to 7.0.3 yesterday. Its another unnerving story that update failed in b/w for some reason, thankfully the automatic backup done before the update made sure i didnt lose anything, except for the extra time.

iMessage and Facetime did not register util I reset the 'Network Settings' . After reset the activation happened in a jiffy and now Facetime works well .

3 months ordeal comes to an end. However leaving a harsh experience where Apple did not even recognize this problem either during this period or later in the released patch !!

Hi guys.

I guess I came across the root of this FaceTime connection lost problem.

When setting up FaceTime/iMessage on a new device for the first time, apple is signing a certificate for this device.

These certificates were valid for exactly 3 years, which meant FaceTime stopped working due to expired certificates for the first users on 24/06/13, exactly 3 years after iPhone 4 and iOS 4 were launched.

It seems that Apple has put into iOS 7.0.3 some code which is requesting new certificates in case the old ones are expired (that's why we have to again through the iMessage registration procedure since the update).
