I had the very same issue, couldn't go past the apple logo black screen. Tried this 3 steps and it worked for me.
Remember make sure the usb cable is plugged to the computer with itunes running then and only then press the device's home button and plugg the other side of the usb cable to the device without releasing home button then you'll see the connect to itunes screen on your device and you will be ready to restore your device.
I can't, it won't turn on past the apple logo and it won't connect to my computer, so I can't manipulate it from there either.
Hello there,
I am very sorry to reply to an old thread but this issue is still following us like a ghost.
Your advice was helpful once. However, now my iPad3 is stuck on "the Connect to iTunes screen" and iTunes does not react to the connection via cable.
So what do I do now? I have bee using this device since 2012 and never purchased the support. (very simply there has not been any need for)
I would be very thankful if someone could provide me with further instructions.
Smith

If you don't have access to an apple computer then you should wait for yoyr battery to die then charge it , once it's charged it will restart and you will be back to your normal lock screen . This one worked for me
thanks it worked perfectly with me. 😀
Follow me to solve iPad stuck on apple logo:
Connect the iPad by USB to the computer
Launch iTunes
Put the iPad into DFU mode by holding the Power button for 3 seconds, while continuing to hold the Power button also hold the Home button for 10 seconds, now release the Power button but continue to hold the Home button for another 15 seconds
iTunes will alert you saying an iPad has been detected in recovery mode, click “OK”
Now select the iPad in iTunes and click on the “Restore” button
To fix iPad stuck at Apple logo screen problem, you can do as the following steps:
1. Download iPhone Data Recovery and then launch it. Click "More tools > iOS System Recovery" on the interface and then connect your iPad to computer via the USB cable.
2. Enter recovery mode/DFU mode as the guide asked.
3. Confirm the information of your iPad and click "Repair" to continue.
4. Go to your device and check if it boots up or not.
Hi, dealing with the restore after having the apple logo issue on the iPad. Have done steps 1-4 no problem. Now in iTunes in restore mode, however, it will not move past waiting for iPad. This is more progress than before, although it has stopped. On the iPad it shows the logo with the install line underneath but isn't communicating. Frozen here.
My ipod just did that then I plugged it into the computer to see if that would help..it didnt so with my ipod plugged into the computer I reset it (hold the off and home keys for 5-15 mins) then the plug into itunes thing poped up and it needed a update. That should help. The update will take 24 mins to download and after that itunes will restore your ipod... have fun. If you don't know how to fix iOS stuck on apple logo, you also can try some recovery tools.
Reba,
You responded to a very old thread. You might get more and better responses if you asked your question by starting a new question. Explain what you are trying to do, what happens and describe any error messages you receive.
Hello,
I am not sure if you still visit this website, but my ipad "died" last night and I tried everything. I was heartbroken. I use it all the time. Today at work I did some web searching and came across your post. I saw that it helped people and I couldn't wait to get home and try it. It might seem silly but I have seen miracles in my life and I consider this one of them. I couldn't really afford to have it fixed. I had scheduled an appt. with an apple store which I am VERY happy to cancel. I just wanted to reach out and thank you. You made my day!!! Completely and totally!!! I appreciate you!
Sincerely,
Fellow ipad user
RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug.
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...
Note:
1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.
3. Repeat the process if necessary so that you can fix iPad stuck on Apple logo issue.
Recovery mode and DFU mode restore are good solutions for fixing iPad stuck on Apple logo if you have a latest backup of the iPad. If you don’t have a most current backup, the restore methods are not suggested as you may lose some data on your iPad.
Try the following solutions without restoring before you decide to restore with iTunes:
