Recently bought logic pro 9... blah blah... very upset. From the UK

Sorry to start yet another topic about this but im struggling.

Does anyone know the best department for me to PHONE in the UK.

I've tried several different departments and each time havent gotten anywhere. I keep being navigated to the email service. (which I've already used and not had much luck)

Many people on here have said not to bother emailing and to use the phone to request a refund but as of yet no one has even been close to being able to help.

Thanks in advance.

its not a songwriter vs enineer thing . I know plenty of songwriters and composers who use only protools. I woulnt doubt its because they know where it will end up. PT are also focused on ease of use and sounds, they have Supior Drummer built with midi beats. And sorry it sounds better then Drummer. They have Instruments, samplers etc. then if thats not enough theres companys like native instruments that most musicians have as standard in their arsenal of sounds. I'll say it agian, im a 10 year Logic guy that wants more flexibility and prossionalism in the mixer. And to everything you justvmentioned it would be a lot more songwriter friendly to click & hold to move, duplicate and organize your channel strips in mix window rather then go to add trak / add to arrange then go back to arrange window and move that track to where you want it. Then go back to see where it is in the Mix window. Then there the no stereo send knobs Ugh.

If they have the capiblity lets see it. Any day now would be nice Apple. been waiting 10 years

Anybody having any joy here? I'm getting nowhere.

They won't listen to the complaint via phone and don't seem to have a complaints procedure.

I've emailed and have conversed with Kara at the Apple Store but keep getting the line "I would like to note that I have consulted with a Senior Advisor, and unfortunately, as stated in the terms of sale, all sales are final. We cannot comment on those threads, as there is no way to prove the accuracy or validity of those comments" - which is, ahem, absolute BS. I'm sure Apple (as one of the largest technology companies in the world) can knock up a quick query to see how many refunds have been processed!!! I think some pragmatism/common sense is needed, we're not talking about a £0.99p iPhone app purchase - regardless of the functionality of the application, £140 is a lot for people to cough up twice when a simple warning on the Mac App store would've sufficed. I think it's really, really poor form on Apple's behalf, I purchased Logic Pro 9 only two days before.

I've submitted a further complaint via e-mail to the Mac App store, submitted feedback on both iTunes store and Logic Pro, and also Tweeted/Facebooked the App Store. I hope they come to their senses... I'll let you know if I have any joy...

This reminds me of when back in the day I was using digital performer and bomb factory was it own entity I bought the Fairchild plugin for $400 with ilok, then they sold it to Protools. So when DP had an upgrade I couldnt use the plugin anymore because there were no non protools version upgrades ie AU . I called and was upset but it was like. sorry thats biusnesss. So 400 down the toilet. it really changed my outlook on loyalty to company's . And well lets just say I don't feel that guilty now when i stumble across somthing shall we say complimentary.

Hi mrhandsome,

Sorry to hear about your current situation, i was in exactly the same boat. I am myself from the UK, i managed to get my problem solved in minutes after scouring the support forums.

Firstly i brought Logic Pro 9 on the 3rd of July, 13 days before the release of Logic Pro X. Once i discovered the new release, just like all of the other recent Logic buyers I was extremely frustrated! Just like youself I emailed Apple support describing my current situation and my frustartion with Apple, however the reply was as many would expect, a link to the iTunesT&Cs. I then 2 more similar cases, 1 with UK support and one with US support, (Americans seemed to be the people getting the refunds!) however, i recieved the same reply with both of them.

Next step i called the UK Customer Support Helpline: (+44) 0844 209 0611. Here another case was opened and I was constantly being put on hold and requoting my Order ID as well as the recipt number! After an hour i grew tired of not getting anywhere and so I kicked up a little fuss (calm and peacful of course!) the advisor then admitted that they could'nt help me at all as i needed to speak to another department which cannot be contacted via telephone. Fortunetly enough, once i told the advisor i wasnt being taken seriously, he talked me through how to have an online Live Chat with an advisor who could help me. Finally...

This is what you will have to do! (how i got my refund in a few minutes)

1. Go to (Apple Express Lane)

2. Click on 'All Products & Services'

3. Next click 'iTunes' in the right column and then 'iTunes Store' in the far right column

4. Under the 'Select a Topic' menu click on 'Purchase, Billing and Redemption'

5. It will then give you a list of options, non of which will be applicable to you. You will need to press the 'Topic is Not Listed' tab and type in 'Refund'. Click 'Enter' and then 'Continue'

6. You will now be transferred to a 'Solutions' page, you NEED to click on 'Chat' (LIVE CHAT WITH AN ADVISOR)

7. Next enter your details as required (name, email address etc.) and hit continue.

8. You will then have to wait for a short while to be put through to an advisor, took about 2 minutes for me!

9. Explain your current situation to the advisor and express your disappointment and frustration and with a bit of luck they'll be able to help you!

I hope this helps you and many others in the same boat resolve your problem, so please share! Please contact me if you need any more help. Remember, dont email because you'll get the same reply and dont call because they cant process your request on the UK helplines.

GOOD LUCK! 🙂

Here is a copy of my transcript with the advisor for you:

How on earth did you wrangle this?!

Last night I had a similar chat with an adviser and even chatted to thier supervisor who assured me was "the highest authority" to deal with my problem!

I didnt get a refund, far from it. I was basically told to stop wasting my time!

The chat function is currently no live on the link you posted, what time did your chat take place?

Haha - strong work himynameisliam! I am getting nowhere here and think it is really bad form that some customers have refunds, and some don't (fair play to all the customers who've managed though!). Another UK customer has confirmed to me on Twitter that they have also received a refund. Going to try the Apple store in Leeds but I'm pretty certain they'll say 'Speak to Mac App Store!'.

I don't get the option for a live chat either.

Honestly, I think there is 'specail snowflake' treatement going on around here. The key problem is the differecnce in local law.

I don't know how it is in the US but in the UK you are only entitled to a refund 7 days after making a purchase by law. Apple don't feel like being good samaritans in this country. I would consider calling US Apple.

No they do not unfortunately. DSR only applies to physical goods.

Its a very old issue actually becasue they dont sell you software, they sell you a license. That license is technically just access to the product which counts a s a service and services cannot be refunded by thier very nature. (Imagine asking a cleaner for a refund after she cleans your house, she'd have to go around putting all the mess back on the floor lol)
