I cannot access the Mac Developer resources this morning.
With a company as advannced as Apple, I would expect them to be able to roll out web updates
seamlessly.
I don't like being out in the cold.
I want to download the Mavericks Beta.
yea it really hurts beacuse of sudden downtime. it must be apple by apple before
what happpened in there ? why don't inform apple to developers for maintance ?

This is highly unusual. I've never seen this kind of downtime before. I assume something substantial is going on. Yes, it's inconvenient. But come on, folks. Sometimes this stuff happens.
Yes, sometimes "this stuff happens" but when it does, it exposes design issues. I've been doing this stuff for a very long time and an outage this long means someone screwed up.

And, when "this stuff happens" to me, my customers tend not to think "soon" is a sufficient estimate of when the problem will be resolved.

No. How could there be? They didn't know it was going down and now they have to (a) find out the problem and (b) find the people who can help (on vacation outside the US?) and then (c) actually prop it back up and jump start the house-of-cards before it's back.
Remember too, this is the weekend, so not even the clumsy intern that tripped over the power cord will be around...
Best to plan for a long weekend, I think.

It does have the feel of a mega-giant fuster cluck.
Charlie Foxtrot has run amok, or has been hired as a porter to carry each individual bit to a new data center.
One can only hope that Apple learns that knifing the baby can get painful at times.
My other thought is they've let software be run by hardware types who rarely have awareness of software issues. Woops.
A theory:
The web development team added features not supported by the current version of the web server.
The new web server doesn't run on the current version of the server OS.
The new server OS doesn't run on the current server hardware.
Screwed by their own planned obsolescence.
It's a joke... right?

Except that....Apple is a user and doesn't do maintenance - the software/server 'admins' are 3rd party consulting firms. Apple, just like us, is at their mercy. And we know how reliable vendors can be.
Why is the Apple Mac Developer portal down, and for how long?
