I cannot access the Mac Developer resources this morning.
With a company as advannced as Apple, I would expect them to be able to roll out web updates
seamlessly.
I don't like being out in the cold.
I want to download the Mavericks Beta.
Trying to rollout an MDM app store to nearly 1000 enterprise users and need to resign the apps via this portal. Why can't apple run mirrored sites?
So many consumer product vendors try to play in corporate world and fail to understand how to spell GLOBAL let alone achieve it.

Well well ...
If Apple would have said "We are transitioning to a new portal and will not be able to service you over the weekend", I would be fine.
But they said "It's taking longer than anticipated." which could basically mean the portal will re-surface end of September.
They should probably consider being a little bit more open with regards to their communication.
Since I still have to login to see the "We'll be back" message, they could explain themselves atleast to registered devs. I'm not asking to put it out the open, but the authentication is still there ...
So ... please Apple ... write something...
It seems to be something new. If you go to

you can see an "AppleConnect" logo. I've never seen such a thing up to now, have you?
According to the Safari Cache and the If-Modified-Since headers, this image was last modified in 2004.
But I admit that really doesn't tell much.

As I can understand that there is a need to do maintenance. I don't think it is right to have a site (subsite) down for more than 24 hours. That tells me it is not a routine maintenance but a major issue.

The last time this kind of mess erupted was when Apple forgot to renew a handful of domain names.
Considering the length of the outage and lack of communciation, one of two situations has happened:
1. Major equipment failure with loss of data.
2. Major security breach with loss of data.
As much cash as they got banked, there's really no good excuse for not having redundant systems to ensure critical infrasturcuture is not offline for days on end.

Apple uses servers and software provided by 3rd parties (JIVE Software, mainly). Apple is just a user and not tasked with any work related to the supporting infrastucture. It's all outsourced.
Why is the Apple Mac Developer portal down, and for how long?
