Logic X crashes when indexing Apple Loops

Hello All

i updated to Logic X yesterday and can't solve the following issue :

Started Logic X and installed all the In-App content successful.

When i click on the "Apple Loop" button in the Library (top right corner), Logic starts to index the Apple Loops on my external HD and crashes after a while.

I do have quite a few Apple Loops there, but it all worked perfect in Logic 9 for a few years now.

Any idea what i could try to do ?

Thanks Daniel

Thx for the tip. I assume that many users who've had this issue already did what you suggest. I will inform Apple the way it should, but apparently this issue is around for more than a year. I've been a beta tester for several iOS and Mac OS software products for several years. When I report a bug there, an update is oftentimes available within hours. Apple on the other hand produces a range of products. In general I'm very pleased with the high quality it delivers. But in the case of Logic Pro, I feel a lack of interest from Apple: Logic Pro is too much of a niche product compared to their other products. It was Apple 's decision to buy Logic, they added the "Pro" themselve, so I expect a top notch product with top notch support. Alas, in many respects I oftentimes feel like a LPX beta tester. I'm fine tinkering around with software, I've done that on a professional level on several platforms, but I decided to go with Apple stuff over 15 years ago because of the "it just works" experience. So my shoutout above is to be interpreted as an expression off my frustration. I've nothing against mainstream products for the masses, they make the "Pro" products more affordable. But I might expect a small team of specialists to work effortlessly on the integration of the OS (and, for instance, the included migration software) and so called "Pro" products without having to fill in reports about the next bug. Within a few hours Apple could ad an option like this to migration software: "You have LPX/FCP/.../ installed. We suggest that you install this software from the App Store" with some options to choose from.

For now I conclude with the work around suggested in several places: create a new administrator account and go from there. It is the only thing that solved my problems with LPX.

So you used migration it seems......

For now I conclude with the work around suggested in several places: create a new administrator account and go from there. It is the only thing that solved my problems with LPX.

An issue that is fixed by using a different User Account almost always relates to a permissions problem... typically caused by the User moving data from one account or computer to another via Migration etc...

As always, I strongly suggest that you don't use Migration to move Logic and it's content to a new Mac... but manually reinstall from scratch to prevent such issues...

The fact that using a new Account fixed things also may suggest you will have other permissions related issues in the future unfortunately...

You may wish to start again from scratch, reformat your system drive... and install OS X again.. using the recovery partition..manually Install all Apps and content again, and manually move any/all personal data/docs etc... to prevent the possibility of other permissions related problems occurring.

Doing this now will likely save you a lot of time and hassle, later...

After reading and test driving this is my final solution:

-I deleted the logic (com.apple.logic... etc) prefs in (~/)library/preferences

-I repaired permissions with DU

-I found and deleted "~/Library/Application Support/Logic/LoopsDatabaseV08.db"

Did the trick for me, Logic Por X is fully functional on my old account again; worth a try before reinstalling everything.
