I just got an iPhone 4 and I'm trying to use it on tmobile. I have restored the phone but every time I put in my SIM card for t mobile it says no service. How can I fix this?

I just got an iPhone 4 and I'm trying to use it on the t mobile network. The thing is, I've tried restoring the phone so I could use it. I haven't tried my sim on other phones yet. But I will try to see if it works. The iPhone is supposedly factory unlocked btw. Anyways, when I put in my tmobile sim, it searches for the service, but it always ends up saying NO SERVICE. I checked that my network says that the "phone not allowed". So I don't have 3G on this phone I presume. I heard that you need 3G to have service is that correct? But how do I resolve it? The iPhone does know that my phone carrier is tmobile. It just says no service. And I've tried restoring it three times and turning it off and on and it won't work. I don't have a data plan for tmobile tw! Hopefully someone can help! Thank you so much in advance!

I have the identical issue!!!

Factory unlocked an ATT 4s about 2 months ago while still having ATT sim. Tested with T-mobile SIM from my older iphone 4 and it worked. I put the phone away as Xmas gift and now tried to use it with a new T-mbile SIM. Get the Searching, then No Service error. It was running some version of iOS6.

As many google results stated, I proceeded to restore the 4s with latest iOS (7.0.4). At the end I get the restore, I get the "Congratulations, your iPhone has been unlocked" message in iTunes. I insert the t-mobile SIM and go through setting up of the phone. At the end of that, still get the no-Service message. I tried this 3 times with no success, tried doing the restore with and without SIM in the phone.

I tried the new t-mobile SIM in my old iPhone4 and it works right away. I tried the working t-mobile SIM from my old iphone4 in the 4S and I get the no-service message. I think I can rule any SIM issues. It is definitely something with the 4S.

So what went bad during the 2 months that the phone sat turned off in the box waiting to become a gift (in a safe dry location)?

What can I try to make it work. I no longer have the working ATT SIM. I can't restore to an older IOS v6 as I don't have the computer that I used 2 months ago.

If I go to Settings->Carriers, there is nothing in the list.

Please help...I need to get the phone working!
