Okay guys, with windows 8 and my iphone 4 this worked;

Just wait until the little instruction window pops up on his screen on the right and screen capture it, then you don't have to listen to him bash Apple while on his iTunes helping you fix yours.

If that doesn't help, watch what he does, then use the screen capture. It worked for me.

I'm having a worse issue here.

I'v had a massege telling me that itunes can't connect to my iphone...unknown error... So i'v tried unintalling it and now I cant even install it. It tells me "network error" when my networks going well, so i'v tried moving my library to another computer, and it keeps on telling me that it couldnt sync because it fails to start. And every time I click on something it takes like 20 seconds for it to go to for example when I click on "Iphone"... And i'v had problems before too on computer 2 where it would tell me that there is not enough space for syncing when i'd have around 1 GB free. I just dont get it and i'd appriaciate someone's help!!

Thanks!!

So I'm sure I'm not the only one who tried all the above things (updating drivers and iTunes etc) yet still couldn't manage to get it working. I'm really quite annoyed and embarrassed at how simple it was to fix.

Whilst the iPhone was connected to the PC (makes the sound but doesn't show up on My Computer) I swiped to unlock my phone. It had a push notification along the lines of "This PC is trying to access your phone, do you want to allow?" I said yes. Instantly it started working again.

Facepalm at how long it took me to work that one out!

Dont listen to anyone here they dont know what they are talking about i will tell you step by step how to sort this problem out but what i will say is that if it doesnt work for everyone then i will post alternate solution.

Step one - Open control panal.

Step two - Open device manager.

Step three - find your Iphone device

Step four - just simply update the software and choose to browse online. (If you have tried this and it has not workes then i would recommend uninstalling and the installing the software for the phone. You can just browse for it on google.com)

Hope this helps.

Hi everyone. I had this exact same problem. I took both my phone and MacBook Pro to the Apple store, and as it turns out my logic board was screwed up and needs replacing. I'm not sure how it happened, but my MacBook would charge everything EXCEPT for my iPhone or iPod. Something about how it can't send or receive data. It also wouldn't recognize flash drives or anything. It is about a $500 fix. For those of you who are struggling to figure it out, and uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, performing updates, etc. isn't working, the logic board may be something worth getting checked out.

It's ridiculous how this post was made a full year ago, and the problem is still accuring. I recently received my Iphone 5s, but before I got it I had an Iphone5 and it randomly stopped connecting to itunes. Once I got my new phone I tried hooking it up to itunes but it didn't work, I tried on 3 different computers but nothing, none of the solutions above worked.

I decided I would try uninstalling Itunes, I have windows 8.1 so once I went into the Uninstall a Program section, and clicked Itunes, I saw a repair button, so instead of uninstalling Itunes I repaired it, it took while to repair but once I did my Iphone popped into Itunes, them I got an error saying it could not be synced, I guess I only fixed half of the problem.

I have the same problem, the phone is a 6 with the latest software, and my itunes is up to date. The operating system is Windows 10. The computer recognizes my phone and my phone is charging. I have used other cords and it is the same for the other cords. I have used the software to repair the itunes and to uninstall the system and reinstall and nothing. any ideas?

I have five different iphones connected to the same iTunes account. iTunes was recognising four of them, but refused to recognise just one phone. With the one phone connected to the PC via a cable, the solution above from "Awkwardly Nice" worked first time for me (after several hours of mucking about with other stuff that was getting me nowhere). Many thanks for your help - much appreciated.

I have tried EVERYTHING including going to 2 stores to see if a professional can help. My phone even stopped charging or recognizing charging cords when connecting to my adapter in my wall but i did this because i couldn't get it to connect to my computer and iTunes so i can try and fix that issue alone and this fixed everything somehow.. wow... 2 months with this issue fixed, all because of these steps. Thank you T___T"
