Macbook "Battery is not charging"

I did all of this too and dead. Down to 2% and dropping as we speak. It's time I've had this problem. I just charged it about a week ago and no problems! Thanks Apple, just another way to make people buy things! 😡

I definitely understand your concern with your battery not fully charging. I found a couple of resources that I think might help with this.

The first thing I recommend is resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) on your MacBook:

Note: Learn about removing the battery on MacBook and MacBook Pro.

1. Shut down the computer.
2. Disconnect the MagSafe power adapter from the computer, if it's connected.
3. Remove the battery.
4. Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
5. Release the power button.
6. Reconnect the battery and MagSafe power adapter.
7. Press the power button to turn on the computer.

If your battery is still not charging, the next thing I recommend is troubleshooting your MagSafe adapter using the steps in this article:

Have you tried pressing the left side keyboard 'Shift-control-option and power buttons at the same time and then releasing them,

This resets the SMC and solved the battery not charging issue on my mac book pro

Thanks for the Post, I had the same problem and your solution worked for me!!!!!

My Battery icon all of a sudden had an x symbol then it changed to 27% but not charging. I used the shift-ctrl-option and power button while my computer was on and it beeped and I believe reset the SMC which resolved my problem as well.

I tried the reset with the computer off but that didn't work.

Same probvlem mid-2013 15" retina....all the sudden my thunderbolt display won't charge my battery and it says "battery is not charging"

I'm blaming 10.9.2 update....So tired of these updates BREAKING STUFF!!!!!! AND NO SUPPORT FROM APPLE!

Side note for others...I too did this when powered on and power still plugged in. My MacBook Pro 17 Mid-2010 (OS X 10.9.2) turned off, no shutdown, just went black when I hit the key combination. I hit the power button to turn back on. Logged in normally. Icon still showed Battery not charging.

Unplugged power adaptor and while unplugged it was blinking orange. Unplugged from wall. Waited until light went out and then 10 more seconds. Plugged back into the wall and then my MacBook started charging again.

Hey Apple! Do something please! My Thunderbolt display still doesn't charge my mid-2013 MBP. Same problem as for splizaat two posts below
