"LOGIC PRO X: Disk is too slow or System Overload. (-10010)" This is the message that I was having since two weeks ago with my Logic 9. I updated two days ago to Logic X and I am still having the same problem.

No, I don't have/use Maschine.

I've disabled journaling on the external audio drive pancenter.

Bottom line : I don't think it makes any real difference.

I think this works, you'll probably need to try it:

Try reducing the output level.

I've noticed that, if you have a lot of tracks and the volume sum is too high, logic tends to crash, even if the output level doesn't get over 0dB because you've got a limiter in there. I've had this problem lots of times as well and I've just realised that.

Deactivate the plug-ins in the output track and try to select all the tracks or buses that are going to the stereo output and reducing them all at once until the output isn't clipping.

I haven't tested if it does this only with the output track or with any bus track that's getting levels that are too high, it can be that too.

Do you have FileVault activated? It defaults to run that when you first set up your Mac - so I just clicked Ok and used that feature. But I've been having the same error when running Logic so took the Mac back to the guys at the Genius bar. They weren't sure but suggested switching this off and restarting. I haven't had the error since and the whole machine is running really well now. It may not be the complete answer but worth trying as you are unlikely to need the enterprise level encryption that file vault gives you and you may just prefer the improved performance you get when you decrypt the hard drive. Hope it works for you too.

Hi, I recently updated my OS to 10.9.4 (13E28). No issues before. Now with 10.9.4 I'm getting the "Disc too Slow or System Overload" messages. My File Vault is already off. Should I try going back to my previous OS? How do I do that? Thanks Bill

Whoops, time to fess up. At the end of each session I use Finder to copy my project to a USB stick. Some how when I loaded my project it was the USB stick copy and not the HHD version. My USB is the disc that is too slow. Hope all your troubles and mine are as easily solved. Regards, Bill

I'm running Logic X in a:

Macbook Air 13"

128GB SSD

4GB RAM

Intel CPU i5

and just when I starting to back up my Logic files in a USB 3.0 this showed up every 10 sec of pressing space bar in the DAW.

I had the same messages, but I found out, if you turn the volume down in channel mixer so the indicator isn't red , the message doesn't appear anymore. It's strange, but worked for me.
