App Store update tab won't show or allow updates on iPad but will on iPhone?

Our iPad mini or iPad 2 won't show the updates for the apps. It will show the number of updates available but when you select it won't open. It will open all the other tabs however, I.e. purchased, features, etc.

iPad, iOS 6.1.3

People who have contacted Apple have been told that they are aware of the problem and are working on it, but can't project when it will be fixed. That is usually the case with problems of this nature--there is generally very little gap in time between understanding the problem well enough to know how long it will take to fix, and actually having it fixed. Some iPads have started to update, but plenty of people are clearly still having the problem.

I also am having the problem on my iPad 4, 64GB Wi-Fi + Cellular model.

I did find going through the "Purchased" tab I can find the apps which need to be updated. Besides iPad apps, in the upper left corner there is a button to switch between iPad Apps and iPhone Apps.

This is a tedious work-around, but it will allow you to find the apps that need updating.

Exact same problem here...3 updates showing on app store icon, blank screen in updates section. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one. I've tried logging out - logging in, rebooting...nothing seems to make any difference. And, as many others have said, this problems seems to be confined to the ipad. My iphone has no issues updating apps.

Apple Support is aware of this problem, which is server based. They are working on it. It took way too long for the problem to escalate within Apple, but they are working on it. As the problem is on the server end, it will not be resolved until Apple resolves it. In the meantime, you can update your apps on iTunes on your Mac or PC and sync with that PC to get the updates onto your affected iPad.

Also remember that you can update by going to the purchased section and manually going through each app to see which ones need updating. This is a bit tedious but a better option for me than having to sync with iTunes. We'll all just have to be patient until Apple fixes this but can they please hurry? I'm still confused on why if this is a server issue than updates still work on my iPhone but not my mini.

I too face the same issue on my iPad2, any updates on iPad2 won't happen but I think I might have identified the route cause of this issue that every one faces with their iPads but not with iPhone. The one reason I think of is that our apps on iPhone and iPad are displayed in the same App Store under the header iPad or iPhone. I navigated to the iPhone tab and saw 3 apps awaiting the update which was the number I could see on the apps store icon on my iPad. I updated all 3 apps that were to be updates on my iPhone through my iPad but they got installed on my iPad and I could see the number going down to 2 from 3. Now all my apps on iPad and iPhone are completely update but I could still see the number but no apps are up for an update.

I am going to update these apps through my iPhone lets see if this works.
