iMac 7,1 20" 4GB RAM Mountain Lion won't sleep?

My iMac seems to not want to sleep. I have tried to source other similar problems and did resolve the issue seemingly. Now it again won't automatically trigger the computer or the display to sleep. I tried to reset the default on the screen saver/ power options… no solution thus far …

Suggestions?

Thanks and have a great weekend 🙂

Ah, now I get it! 😊

Though it seems the opposite, I wonder if it's a pmset thing?

See if it's related to this...

The 2012 macs (and later apparently) not waking normally from sleep after hours being in sleep. (noted here ...

"Why 2012 iMac/2012 Mac Mini won't Wake After Hours of Sleep (Hibernates/Powers Off)")

The sleepimage file still reappears even if never slept. Delete it (hibernate off, etc) - within minutes its back.

Well, I had two widgets that displayed a couple of streaming webpages; one was a NOAA sattelite image loop, the other a webcam from USTREAM: I removed both of those widgets and reset the SMC. I then reset the energy saver to put the display to sleep and put the computer to sleep after 1 minute, then restarted the machine and it went to sleep automatically and on queue. So, I set the energy saver to default and restarted once again, waited ten minutes and it worked.

Thanks for leading me in the right direction! Funny how the exact opposite indication leads to a solution. Goes to show that thinking outside of the box is a course of action that can produce results. 😀 Im pretty sure that the widgets in question had not fully suspended thus preventing the trigger to call sleep although I ofcourse am not sure. I spose I could test the theory by adding the widgets back 😉 Some other time, maybe.

Have a great weekend!
