Support Code:300 The printer does not respond

In the last 2 weeks I'm suddenly getting a frequent error message on my MacBook Pro when I try to print to my Canon MX860 printer which I connect to over my WiFi network. This combination has worked flawlessly for several years, but now it suddenly keeps coming up with this "Support Code: 300" error.

I have deleted the printer several times and reinstalled. It will work for 12 hours or less and then I start getting the Support Code: 300 error again.

My notebook PC, sitting right beside my MacBook Pro, continues to print to this same printer with no issue.

Any suggestions?

You're welcome for the community.

Strange how things happen. I hadn't had the problem in a long time either and then it hit a few days ago. First time under High Sierra. I'm using a Canon MX922. I tried various suggestions, mine and others'. I tried deleting an re-activating, resetting the printer system, reloading the Canon drivers, and reloading the latest Apple Canon drivers. I believe that part of the problem is that the old printer stays around even if you delete it from the Printers & Scanners list. I'd get the printer attached but I couldn't get it to use the Canon drivers. Canon's drivers have a lot more print options than Apple's.

What finally worked was to clear everything out, go into Preview, load a document, and click Print. Then under the Printer drop down is an Add Printer option. I selected that and I could see the different types of printer available. There are entries for both Bonjour Multifunction and Canon IJ Network. I chose the Canon IJ Network option and got the printer drivers I wanted. It's quite possible that this was suggested previously somewhere in this thread. Now I have to remember this for next time.
