Midi notes hanging with Logic X

Hi all. I am new to this, so please be gentle :-)

I have an AMT8 Midi interface (from Emagic). I have a keyboard that is connected to the interface, and subsequently into my iMac.

Since installing the new Logic X, the midi notes are getting stuck (hanging). This is when I am using a software instrument within Logic.

I find that I have to turn off the midi interface (or hit the panic button) to stop the hanging notes. Sometimes there is no sound until I again restart the interface.

I also have Logic 9, and I have never had this problem, all works fine.

Does anybody have any experience of this, or any advice?

Cheers,

CCan you make sure you have the latest version of the AMT8 driver installed? you might want to use an App named MiIDI Monitor to check where the hanging notes come from.

Firstly, you are welcome!

Additional..

If you have an iPad/iPhone (and from your post and the "TThank you Art Of Sound," which shows you are suffering from the annoying bug with this forum and iOS devices, it seems you do) and use Midi apps on it..and can afford the extra expense.. I'd highly recommend the iConnectMidi2+ as it's ability to pass through Audio from the iPad to Logic as well as being very stable Midi connectivity wise.. is excellent..and it's built like a tank. So much so that I have two of the 2+ models... and will be buying the larger 4+ version in the next couple of months to take out on the road...

But if not the basic iConnect1 is apparently very stable too... from other reports I've read... though i have no personal experience with that particular model...

Cheers..

Jakob. YES

SOLUTION: ...

I bought the MOTU interface "Fastland USB" , Need to spend about $50 instead of $5. It's a great interface, no issues anymore. the cheap interfaces are not compatible with new OSx. See the great post from our friend "The Art of Sound" ...

...is that i cannot understand why some people spend between 1k and 2k on a Mac.. and then go and want to spend a paltry $30 or $40 on a midi interface and expect then to work without issue...

As I have said often before... Its kind of like buying a Ferrari for 150K and then putting $100 tires on it and expecting it to drive well... The tires will work (sort of) but you are degrading the performance of the Ferrari so much that you might as well be driving a 30K Mustang....

Hey Doug,

very glad that fixed it for you. There is still hope.

I'm using the Motu Midi Express 128 but haven't been able to resolve the issue.

at the moment I'm thinking of buying an iconnectivity +4 to see if that resolves the issue..

just trying to get as many viewpoints on the matter as possible so i don't end up wasting any Money on another interface..

jakob,

Then your issue is something else entirely and has nothing to do with the Midi interface.. as there are zero issues using an iConnect Midi device with any 2009/2010 Mac with USB2 ports.....

I suspect you have something else installed in your system that is causing the real issue.... (given you got your Mac from someone else and who knows what they might have previously installed on it) but as to what that might be, is hard to say without physically looking at your Mac in person.

If I were you, I would make a backup of all personal data (Projects, Music, Docs, Photos etc..) to an external HD

Then I would wipe your Mac clean, using the Recovery partition... and then reinstall OS X Mavericks..

OS X Mavericks: Erase and reinstall OS X

Now install LPX and then the iConnect stuff and install nothing else..

Now test in LPX and see what happens.....

Im willing to bet you will then have zero midi notes hanging....
