iTunes store is currently unavailable only for most recently purchased content

I have a new issue: when attempting to access the three most recent TV series that I purchased, I get the error, "iTunes store is currently unavailable. Please try again later." This has been occurring consistently for the last three days, even after completely resetting the Apple TV and re-logging into my iTunes account. I can access newest series on my iPad and iTunes but Apple TV will not play them, only give me the error. It will, however, play anything I purchased prior to the three most recent purchases. Maddening!

This happened to us tonight, only for one TV show. Resetting the Apple TVs or signing out and back in didn't work. We were able to get around it was to search for the TV show as if we were going to buy it again, then select it and it plays with no problem! Hope this helps...

It seems to work for me for multiple season shows. These are the only one that give the "iTunes is currently unavailable" error message for me. I added a season of Survivor to my favorites and can access other seasons by going to the Other seasons menu. I agree that it seems bugged in that you can only add one season to your favorites but still better than having to search for Survivor every time...

Hi all,

I am having the same issue with one of my purchased TV shows - 'Futurama'.

I can access and play all episodes on my computers and mobile devices but, like the posters above, my Apple TVs have been unable to load the show from the 'Purchased' tab since early August.

At least in this instance, I have found a workaround that is not mentioned above. Through a trial and error process of 'hiding' and 'unhiding' chunks of 'Futurama' episodes in my account, I have found that my Apple TVs are having particular difficulty with one episode - Season 1 Episode 2. Upon 'hiding' just that episode, I can now access all other 'Futurama' episodes through the 'Purchased' tab.

I would be interested to hear if 'hiding' individual/chunks of episodes helps anyone else, and I eagerly await a proper fix from Apple!

In addition to Futurama S1E2 being the only one causing problems, I can confirm (at least for myself) that Lost S6E6 was the one causing that series problems and The Office S7E16. I tried for 24 too and while S3 was fine, there were too many episodes in 2 that were messing it up so I didn't bother narrowing it down.

To hide, open iTunes -> click iTunes Store -> select Purchased under Quick Links on the right -> click TV Shows tab -> select the TV Show -> click on the corner (x) that appears when you hover over a season

To unhide, go back to iTunes Store home -> select Account under Quick Links on the right -> click Manage next to Hidden Purchases which is under iTunes in the Cloud -> click TV Shows tab -> select the TV Show -> click season -> click Unhide All or Unhide next to individual episodes

Hiding and unhiding the Lost in Space seasons did not seem to work for me. Though I discovered a flaw in hiding shows.

When you to go the favorites menu, it still shows the cloud icon on episodes you've purchased. That's supposed to be hidden...a bit exploitive considering by design there is to be no indication a purchased show/movie has ever been purchased if it's set to be hidden!

A similar situation has been happening to me but when it comes to switching accounts. Every time I try switching from my husbands account to mine I get this message. I contacted apple and they want me to pay for a consultation! It's ridiculous. My husband hates apple and I have been an avid apple user for years but stuff like this makes me think. Very frustrated and unhappy with apple products. Apple TV is going back.

A few days ago I noticed the problem has been resolved too. It's too bad they gave so many people the run-around who called in. They need to both improve their customer service and make sure their customer service reps dealing with customer problems/issues have access to more information about what's going on (or maybe they do and don't care).

Hi all

Having the same problem for a month now. With me it's the FXX show its always sunny in Philadelphia, I have the whole series but can't access them through purchased section but I can from search and favorites, they are not hidden but I will try hiding them and then n hiding them. I have spoke to an apple rep live and he was baffled and got the problem sent to apple engineers and then I have been working with a customer service rep online and he also said that the apple engineers are working on it.

Very annoying
