how can I receive texts on my iPad?

I receive texts on my iPhone and would like to receive them also on my ipad as an iMessage. It has done this in the past but for some reason it is not doing so right now.

As of release 8.2, "Continuity" does allow SMS texts to show up from the iPhone to some of the iPads (at least as long as they are supported in the current release of iOS). I have just finished successfully setting up my iPad Air2 with my iPhone 6, but did run into some issues initially. If all works properly, you will set up iMessage on both units, including toggling on your specified device, which will be listed in "Text Message Forwarding" on the iPhone under Settings/Messages.

If that does not appear to allow the text connection, then try the following on both the iPad and the iPhone: turn off & then on iMessages; select to "View Account" under Settings/FaceTime; power off and then on the units. Some or all of that is what finally made all connections work for me. All I can conclude is that somewhere in all of this is some sort of reset. I don't know of what, or where. Hope this info helps others.
