Epson Printer Filter Failure with rastertoescpII

I recently updated my Epson drivers via Software Update. Now when I try to print, I get an error message of a "filter failure" and that "rastertoescpII quit unexpectedly".

In the log file it says:

(/Library/Printers/EPSON/InkjetPrinter2/Filter/rastertoescpII.app/Contents/MacOS /rastertoescpII) crashed on signal 11

I have tried resetting the printing system via the Print & Scan preferences and downloading & installing the Epson Printer Software 2.15 (downloaded from the Apple support site). But nothing seems to help.

When I go to the Epson driver download page, it says that I can only get drivers via Software Update.

Does anybody have suggestions?

I had the same problem. Tried various suggested fixes which did not work. Then I stumbled across an Epson US website which suggested similar answer.

System prefs/sharing: enter computer name or change name.

S./prefs/print & fax. Select printer list/Options and supplies. In location field enter computer name as named before then ok.

So simple after all the computer spagetti that was pouring out onto the screen!

I had the same problem as well. It started two days ago. Printer was fine on my iPhone and iPad, but every time I went to print on my MacBook Pro, it went into PAUSE and wouldn't RESUME. OR I got an rastertoescpII error.

The only thing I could think of that I did since the printer was working perfectly 2 days ago was DELETE a VMWare Fusion VIRTUAL PC DISCK on my Mac hard drive. I needed space on my drive for Mac stuff. I uninstalled/deleted it (according to the instructions, and using CleanMyMac) and everything was fine. Except when I tried to print.

Two days of absolute **** and frustration, calling around, hunting for Discussions on the internet, sent an email to EPSON, even had an IT expert help me. No go.

Then, somehow, I searched on "rastertoescpII error" and found this Discussion and Yeungdog1983's recommendation to enter a computer name.

IT WORKED. Now, Printing Bliss!!! Thank you, Yeungdog1983!!!!
