Can anyone please tell me what this symbol means?

Match has been working for me for over a year, but recently both the macs that I use have this lighning symbol in the cloud next to the Music playlist in my Library.

I am using iTunes 11.0.5 on OS X 10.8.4

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion, 13" Late 2011 8GB RAM

That means there is no connection to iCloud.

I waited until this morning and tried clicking on the cloud symbol. It went into stripey mode for much longer than before and all the tracks in my library went to WAITING Match Status. After about five minutes of downloading data from Id-6.itunes.apple.com, the cloud became solid and the tracks have their usual mix of MATCHED and UPLOADED.

This looks like a transient server-side problem.

(My second Mac just went through the same process with the same outcome.)

Hi Fiberluver

I don't think this is a regional issues. It seems pretty sporadic. I know Apple has been doing a lot of work on iTunes in the Cloud lately and it seems they are having issues. I don't hink there is anything you can do on your end but wait. Others who are having this problem seem to report it resolving itself in time. Keep trying it periodically. Although it doesn't seem to be helping, make sure you are updated to the latest version of iTunes (11.0.5) that was just recently released. It was spefically realease to fix iTunes in the Cloud bugs. Although it is said to fix a bug with track naming it may resolve other issues too.

After reading this, I decided to check on my Match status again.

Although the lightning bolt has not reappeared, Match seems to be constantly scanning and sending info to Apple. Previously - although I can't be sure - this only happened when there was some change to the library, but I have not changed mine since this problem started.

Does this seem to others like normal/expected behaviour?

Same problem here. I'm in NJ with Fios as my internet provider. I thought it may have been a regional thing as well. I did the whole reboot router and ONT. I'm also a developer and on one machine I have the new beta of iTunes and on my other, the normal version. Both were working fine a few days ago. Now neither of them work with iTM. My iPhone also does not working with Match. Funny story also, when I go to contact support, "Express Lane", the website doesn't work, just hangs when hitting submit. Double checked doing it over cell connection on my iPhone, still doesn't work.

Apple is falling all over themselves over the past few days.

Argh.

I too am having problems with Match, but I don't believe the 'lightning bolt' indicates issues w/Match. I believe it indicates there are unsynced changes waiting to be applied to Match / iCloud.

I could be wrong -- I haven't found an official word from Apple on the different icons 😟 .

I was wrong. It does indicate lack of connection to Match / iCloud.
