How can i lock the screen during phone call i5

Is there any way to lock the screen during phone calls. Every time i put the phone on my shoulder my face touches the screen and i mute, add a caller or worse hang up on the person Im talking to. Bad design if ask me.

I think 90% of people are missing the point(probably because they have never owned anything other than apple *my thoughts). I think the person who originally asked was that when on a call can I manually lock the screen. Now this is a common feature in android phones. I’ll give you a situation that I use the lock button on android, when I want to place the phone in my pocket after answering it while using headphones simply done on android.

Now I bought a separate phone using iPhone 5 and try this application every single time ends calls, Now please don’t reiterate oh just use the sensor that makes the screen go blank, well hello sherlock I’m not putting the phone up to my face I have either bluetooth headset or wired ones and I just want to put the phone elsewhere not my hands, it’s a thing call multitasking unlike new society that always have to have the phone in their hands looking at the screen I would like to for once just talk and work without the screen being on like on the android platform.

There is no more user-friendly way....your phone does not work property (proximity sensor broken), which is the way an iPhone turns the screen off during a call. Adding a button would be redundant.

Just get your phone repaired.

I know this post is from a long time ago, but my mom's 5s recently started doing the same thing, thought maybe that was a software issue, can´t find anything supporting that theory, I guess it´s a hardware issue.
