My emails keep disappearing

Often when I sign into email my icloud emails show for a few seconds and then disappear. They are not found in trash or archive but are simply gone. Has Apple addressed this issue or do I need to change emails again?

Which email service is this with? I have a different service which does this from time to time. I never have problems with the icloud email service.

I've always suspected that it's a timing issue. Also it could be that I previously read the email on, say my mac and deleted it. When I look at my iphone, I may see the email for a split second and then it disappears. This may also happen if a rule I have set on my mac, moves an incoming email directly into another folder. On the iphone, it will still be in the inbox for a brief moment.

I have exactly the same problem. An incoming email alert will appear on the screen briefly. When I go to the email program, the email is completely gone. It has not simply been moved to another folder, such as junk, it has disappeared. It happens with emails that have not previously been read on any other device. Any suggestions about how to prevent this?

I have this problem too. And it is across all my devices. I can be sitting on my couch and my iPad, iPhone, and iMac will all ding that i get an email. I go to look for the email and its completely gone on all devices. Its not in junk, deleted, or any other folder. Its not even searchable (when i see the sender's name in the three seconds it flashes on the screen before it poofs.) I'm really not amused. If this doesn't get fixed i'm going to have to find a new email provider...and i really love Apple so saying that hurts.

Hey,

EXACTLY the same problem. Very serious - I'm not getting any emails now. My mail client pings that new email has arrived, but nothing in the inbox.

@pvonk: It's not a computer email client problem. I tested this on the iCloud webmail: The messages appear for a split second, then immediately disappear, not to be found anywhere, not in Junk, Trash, anywhere.

Fact is, I cannot use iCloud email anymore. Simply because I'm not getting any email!

EDIT: I found that a workaround is possible by setting up iCloud to forward all messages to another address. It seems the messages go through to the forward address, while still not appearing in the iCloud mailbox. So this is a way to preserve the incoming messages. Just have to make sure to let everyone know to stop using my iCloud address to send me mail in the future.

I noticed this behavior when the iCloud web interface was updated last week. For me, the behavior is that all new email messages are automatically moved to Trash eventually. Sometimes some hang around in the Inbox for a short while, but eventually then end up in Trash.

I looked for a way to submit a defect report. But where do we do that.

I'm afraid this isn't the forum that will get Apple's attention. I'm shocked this has gone on as long as it has (i.e. since last week). Seeing the original post was a month ago shocks me even more.

Come on Apple. You don't really want to force us away from iCloud, do you?

I'm having the same problem, across all my devices (and there's no spouse deleting them! 🙂)

Some of my email gets through, but I'm noticing that more than half of the messages are showing up for a split second and then disappearing (and can't be found anywhere - not in the trash, not in junk, etc). This is very alarming. There does not seem to be any rhyme nor reason to which types of messages or which domains get through.

Desperate for a resolution to this, or any info at all...

Thank you!

I have the same problem and it seems to have the techs who look at these posts flummoxed! Mine disappear when I reply to an email, or when I click on a link to the email, then come back to it. It doesn't happen all the time, just some of the time. It has nothing to do with viewing the email on two different devices as someone suggested.

Please, please. If ANYONE gets a solution, please post it! I am having the same issue, and it's on all devices. Tonight when I downloaded an app and created an account in the app, the confirmation email appeared briefly and then disappeared. This has happened numerous times. I really want a solution as we love Apple and don't want to change our email 😕

I am having the same problem. If I open my emails with my iPhone the emails (some, not all) will simply disappear. They are not in my trash or junk folder. If I then go to my yahoo account the emails are gone. It seems as if the iPhone is actually deleting them. This has happened to several very important emails. This is a HUGE problem and Apple does not seem to be responding. I am actually considering not using my iPhone. I'm on my fourth iPhone. This is very frustrating.
