Song shows as "Purchased" in iTunes and won't let me re-download it, but it doesn't show up in my Purchased list. I want the song back, don't mind re-downloading, but it won't let me

Why do I get this message every time someone replies on this item

I don't even know what this is about and also tried to change the settings in my profile many times over

Could have saved yourself a lot of time if you had just taken the time to read the "Helpful" responses which show up on the first page of the thread. The solution was there, and was re-posted repeatedly throughout the thread. ....

This is one of those ridiculous Apple problems that should just be solved. Most likely, Apple likes the extra revenue from people re-purchasing songs? I don't know, anyway. For me, the solution was to go to iTunes->Preferences->Downloads and select "Music" under Automatic Downloads. Suddenly, the songs that were grayed out (unavailable for download) suddenly all became available for download, when I went back to the album in iTunes. I am so amazed that this is fixed, I will send up several extra prayers to the Apple gods tonight. Thank you, oh perfect beings of business.

Incidentally, once you've done this, go to Store tab in iTunes. Then click the small text "purchased" on the right side. Then look for each album with a little iCloud download icon on it, and click the icon. This will download it to your computer. Finally, all the albums you have payed good money for will be available on your computer. What a concept.

So I have bought some songs on my iPhone in the last few months and they were playing just fine. I listened to them all day at work and then I went to play them on my way home and they disappeared from my music library. When I go into iTunes and click purchased music and show the ones not on my phone all the songs that disappeared are in there and when I click the cloud icon to redownload them it says downloading and acts as if they are downloading but still don't show up in my library so I go back into iTunes and go back to purchases not on my iPhone and the cloud icon reappears.

What do you mean exactly by "won't let me re-download it"?

I have identical problem and it's a new album.

One of the first things I tried...still don't see the song(s)

I gave up and just purchased it again from Amazon.

sign out

sign in (should ask you to verify credit card security code)

go back to your library

voila, albums should be there
