Song shows as "Purchased" in iTunes and won't let me re-download it, but it doesn't show up in my Purchased list. I want the song back, don't mind re-downloading, but it won't let me

I was having the same problem and just figured it out. Just like a lot of you, the fixes listed here didn't work for me. This is what I did:

1.) Open iTunes Store app

2.) Scroll to the bottom of the Music tab to your Apple ID

3.) Tap your Apple ID and select "View Apple ID"

4.) It will take you to your Account Settings and you'll scroll down to and select "Hidden Purchases"

5.) Select "Music" and it should all be there

6.) Select "Unhide" and it should automatically start downloading the songs.

Hope that helps!

Most of the responses didn't help me, as it seemed to not be any of those issues (I was looking in the right music folder on my computer, my music was unhidden, etc.). I too had a new album that said purchased, so the only option was to play the track. I went to the album within iTunes, where to the right it said downloaded. Clicking the ... shows the option to remove download. I downloaded it again and the album files popped up in the iTunes media library folder on my computer (I needed the physical file). Hope this helps someone else too!

I experienced an issue after enabling Apple Music, where I saw a duplication of tracks under albums. In an attempt to resolve, I removed the album and then found that on my Mac is was unable to re-download the album. It didn't appear in purchase history and it wasn't hidden. Looking up the album showed it as purchased, but there was no option to download.

I ran a Finder search for the artist/album and found a reference to it within an iTunes associated XML file. Eventually I decided to carry out an iTunes reset using the following information How to Reset iTunes Library on Mac and Windows PC. CAUTION!!! doing this will completely reset iTunes and you will most likely need to download all your content again and also re-associate your devices with, so proceed with caution.

After going through this process, the album that I had been having issues with was available to download again. FWIW prior to this I had spent months researching and reading many of the same threads as, before deciding that the best way to usually resolve an issue within MacOS is to look at resetting preferences.
