Song shows as "Purchased" in iTunes and won't let me re-download it, but it doesn't show up in my Purchased list. I want the song back, don't mind re-downloading, but it won't let me

I was having the same problem and just figured it out. Just like a lot of you, the fixes listed here didn't work for me. This is what I did:

1.) Open iTunes Store app

2.) Scroll to the bottom of the Music tab to your Apple ID

3.) Tap your Apple ID and select "View Apple ID"

4.) It will take you to your Account Settings and you'll scroll down to and select "Hidden Purchases"

5.) Select "Music" and it should all be there

6.) Select "Unhide" and it should automatically start downloading the songs.

Hope that helps!

Just found out how to fix it.

-Click iTunes > Prefrences > Store

-Check mark the option that says "Show iTunes in the Cloud Purchases"

-Go to your music (which should now have a cloud icon beside it) search song(s) that have been missing.

-The songs should have a cloud icon with an arrow pointing down beside them, click that and they should download.

That was my fix.

Cheers

So I tried every solution listed in the replies to the original post, the only thing that PARTIALLY worked was from Jlcello (thank you!) the other songs showed up, but I had to repurchase it.

So, I am currently on hold with apple care and they've asked me to do most of the things listed in this thread as well, but none have worked. The specialist called the itunes store specialists and said it may be about ten minutes. Hopefully they'll figure something out and I'll be able to post a solution.

Nope, they weren't able to help me. They did do two things:

1. I can re-purchase them by logging out of my account and searching for the album/song. It then gives an price instead of the ghosted out 'purchased' it said when I was logged into my account.

2. They gave me 3 credits for my trouble.

I tried giving the rep the number or web address of this thread so they could log it as a glitch, but he said he'd log the problem now and if enough problems come in, they'd fix it. I suspect there won't be a lot of problems logged, I was only able to speak to someone because I have apple care...

Sigh.

Argh - that laptop is dead. It before it died I thought I had put everything in the cloud.

You don't put iTunes purchases into the cloud, They are already there.

I arill have the emailed recipes from iTunes proofing I bought the albums but on my iPad and iPhone, the only items in my purchased list are purchase from 2013 - nothing older

Sounds like you are using a differnt iTunesID.

I had this problem and I found my solution was really quite simple. The root cause was the iTunes library was originally created with one iTunes account and then changed leaving a download playlist with the wrong account id. Under iTunes Store there was a folder called purchased that it was trying to download to, however this was still linked to the original ID even after everything else was changed. This is only a playlist, so delete it (renaming it would probably have worked). Now the music will download and new folder called purchased is created. Something so simple, yet so frustrating.

THANK YOU!!

This is the only answr that worked.

Everyone else is making wild guesses as to how to find missing downloads. This is the definitive answer.

Thank you. You clearly understand the workings of itunes, screwed up though they are...thank goodness for people like you, who have the patience to unravel the mysteries of applle I do not- were it not for your answer, I was prepared to do the old-fashioned thing (copy files from one computer to another).

Ive been having the same problem you have had and just by rummaging around managed to find out how to re-download my songs. Now for this to work you have to have at least one song from that SAME album downloaded onto your computer. For me it was one song that I had out of my entire Encore (Deluxe Edition).

1. Go to your library

2. Click "Albums"

3. Find the album that has the songs you cannot download (with at least one on the computer)

4. Open it and click the show all songs button

5. There should be a download symbol next to all of those songs that you couldn't download.

6. Press it 😀

Sorry if this is sort of limited to the albums that you have at least one song on but it got me two of my albums back. Hope this helps!

Note to anyone who moved countries (changed your iTunes country): You cannot redownload things you bought in the previous country. So if you buy an album with your US iTunes account, then try to re-download it with your Canadian one after a move, it shows as "purchased" but with zero ability to recover the album.

Song shows as "Purchased" in iTunes and won't let me re-download it, but it doesn't show up in my Purchased list. I want the song back, don't mind re-downloading, but it won't let me
