Ipod Malware? (Safari Redirects + App store randomly running)

A friend sent me a tumblr link earlier today of some artists pic, clicked the pic for fullsize but got redirected to the orginal hosting site (No issues there). I had never been on that website before and it looked kinda shady so I quickly closed the tab and went on with life.

Ever since then though, my iPod Touch will keep redirecting me to random websites whenever I have to change or load another page. These websites are in No Way correlated with the orginal websites and I am not hitting any ads. Occasionally these redirects will also be accompanied by the app store opening to random apps. I'm seriously concered this ia a malware issue or some sort of harassment cookie or such on safari. Unfortunately, closing the app and restarting the ipod have NOT solved the issue.

I am getting the same problem, and it has been getting worse. Now it is happening around every 3rd website I navigate too. It makes reading webcomics an absolute nightmare. Has anyone found out how to fix this issue yet?

If this is happening with specific sites, it's a problem with those sites. If it's happening with any sites, including this one, then you probably have a hacked wireless router. See:

SAme here !!! On my ipad 4 and i phone 5 both cannot sTream any video or watch online shows ,always redirects me to appstore

looks like ios is not virus free as they claim !!

MY brother iphone 6 too got the same issue

If you read through the posts in this thread, and followed thomas_r's advice you would know it is not a virus and have solved your issue.

well, i have read all the threads starting from cleaning cookies and history until thomas_r's thread

and they r not helping as this happens in different networks and on my data 3G and on different os(s) and devices and not on specific websites it happens in different websites ,it occurs always when new window is opened in safari either from google search or link on mail or anything IMP.hint my brother doesn't visit same websites that i visit so how our devices got the same issue ?!

My ipad air is doing the same thing. And when it redirects to the app store, in the search bar it says virus. The app its trying to push me do download is an online shopping app. Occasionally its games but always with the word virus in the search bar.

It is very likely a malicious ad on the page. I use an app called Weblock, which blocks ads and haven't experienced the redirecting. That app was free when I got it but it may be for pay, I'm not sure, however app store redirects can also be the result of ads on a web page. And the only way to get around them is to not use that page and clear away your cache and history, or if you have to use that page, get an ad blocking app to keep the ads from working.

Thank you! I'll download the app you suggested. I cleared my cache but it didn't affect the redirecting.
