My IPad is not letting me receive or send messages. When I put in an address to send a text , it turns the name red and says it is not being accepted. Those are my contacts. It has always accepted them. My send and receive is on and I am signed into Apple

My IPad is not sending or receiving I Messages. I'm signed in to Apple ID. It was doing it. When I try to send and put in an address from my contacts, it says they are not registered and the name is in red with a question mark after it.

Hi Meg, I did try to send messages to other IPhone users. When I use my contact list it says cannot send because they are not registered to I Message. Yet when my daughter , today sent me a message, I got it and as long as I answer in the box that I recieved her message it sent for me. they just won't send from my contact list even though the people have IPhones. Do you understand what I am trying to say? It's awful hard to type these questions. Phones & voice to voice would be better.

Also, how do I get this contact list registered in I Messages ? I never knew I had to do that...

Thank you: Marietta Davis

Not only do the people you are attempting to mesage have to have iPhones, they (not you) have to register their phones with iMessages.

This is a user-to-user technical support forum. The only way to participate is by posting. If you need to speak to someone, you might try making an appointment at the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store.

Best of luck.
