Iphone 5 wont pair with my new macbook pro

I just bought a macbook pro 2.7GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 16GB of 1600MHz DDR3L onboard memory

I saw on a fair a person using the reflector app on his macbook pro. he had just simply paired his iphone 5 with his macbook pro using bluetooth.

I tried it on my macbook pro but it wont pair.

When i searh after new devices it finds my iphone and sends a code to my iphone. my macbook pro says that my phone is now paired but not connected.

On my iphone 5 i can see my macbook pro but it says not connected. when i press "not connected" i get an error message saying that my macbook pro arent supported.

I saw in another thread somesone saying you cant pair your iphone to your macbook pro using bluetooth, but that cant be right cause i saw it yesterday at the fair.

Help anyone?

The iPhone will not natively pair with the MacBook Pro. The App you quote would be required to perform what you wish.

Sorry Apple. You can add me to the list of disappointed customers. I bought the i-Pad because I loved the i-Phone. I bought the Mac Air because I understood it was compatible with both. Now I find out the the newest phone and newest Mac can't even talk to each other via Bluetooth. Pretty ridiculous.

I may need to get the old laptop back out of the closet and buy and Android.

Yup super annoying. Mine won't even connect as a hotspot through bluetooth. USB and Wifi work fine for the hotspot but nothing for bluetooth. On a more annoying front my PC running windows XP won't work off of my Iphone's hotspot, which ***** becasue I am a tour manager and rely heavily on the hotspot. So I've had to switch over to an older MBP that I've inherited.

The thing that really ****** me off about all of this is Apple's lack of accesibilty to docs and pdfs. Why on God's Green Earth can't I just drag a pdf onto my iphone while it is plugged into my computer and have it be accessible on the iphone? Instead I have to jump through ten hoops emailing the thing to myself and downloading it to the phone. Now with Bluetooth innaccesible as a means to send docs, pdfs and data between devices, well Jesus you've backed yourself into a corner Apple. It is just this coddling condescending attitude of this company that ****** me off. They clearly know best what is good for us the consumer. Sucky products.

You are not addressing Apple here. This is a user to user support forum. Telling us or yelling with your caps lock does not get anything done here. If it helps any at all, you have never been able to connect the devices via Bluetooth from the very beginning. It is believed this is to prevent the possibility of exchanging copyrighted materials/files. If you want to let Apple know your thoughts, then go to the feedback page at www.apple.com/feedback and click on the appropriate link.

So this is just a matter of time for it to be deleted my the monitor who deleted the last one, if this is not an answer to a technical question, I do not know what is.

Actually it's to prevent us from using HotSpot without having a subscription with the carrier to do so. I went through the entire process with both Apple reps and At&T reps, the AT&T supervisor activated the service for a few hours and voila, all of a sudden the BT worked flawlesly. I am baffled that a law suit has not been brought against both companies yes, it's completely insane.

That is not it. Even if you have Personal Hotspot, as I do, you still cannot connect to do anything except use the Bluetooth connection for Hotspot. You still cannot pair with the computer for any other reason. While having a Hotspot approval from the carrier does allow you to connect to the Hotspot via Bluetooth, it does not allow anything else.

You've got to be kidding me. I cannot get my iPhone 5S to BT Pair with my 27" iMac. I used to routinely pair iPhone with iMac, but somewhere along the way, new iPhone, software updates (?), a disfunction has been created. Both are running the latest software. For an instant, they were in communication and I saw a 6 digit number, but it went away and now I continually get an error message. THIS SHOULD NOT BE SO DIFFICULT!!

OK so like an idiot I intermittently keep trying to connect my iPad2 and iPhone5 to my MBP. Of course it fails but I just keep hanging on to a shred of hope that someday it just may start working. I have questions to pose to all of you following this thread.........Just what the **** are you supposed to pair your laptop with if it won't pair with other iOS devices? Why does the MacBookPro even have Bluetooth at all? what the **** is it for?

It is baffleing....I am sure they are working on this right? does anyone have knowledge on whether or not Apple is working on a fix for this?
