iTunes convert to AAC cuts track length

Does it only happen on that one song, or is it a general problem?

If it only affects that one song, try converting first to WAV, and then convert the WAV to AAC/256.

Steeze, If it is happening on all files, it sure sounds like a bug.

Before you give up, change the setting to AAC at Constant Bit Rate (CBR) instead of VBR, and then try one more time.

But if that doesn't help, then go to a 3rd party conversion program.

I have this problem too. Did you already find a solution? I'M STARTING TO FREAK OUT HERE. I've been trying and trying all night. I guess I will download the older version of itunes. But I can't sync my library 😟

As steeze noted, the problem only seems to accur if you use VBR. Go into the Custom screen of Import Settings and uncheck VBR.

I tried different types of setting combinations. Checking and unchecking it won't fix the problem. I even tried converting my files in different formats. Still having the problem.

I'm having this issue as well. Running into it when I'm down converting songs when they're transferred over to an iPhone. I'm going 256 MP3 to 192 AAC. Gets about 2/3 of the track and then cuts off from there. Only resoution I've been able to come up with is to copy the full bitrate MP3 over to the iPhone

I unchecked my VBR as well and it still cuts the songs off at 1:31, when I am converting tracks. it didn't used to do this, any other suggestions?

it has been fixed in mine but sometimes it cuts 1 second of the song but i dont mind that as long as it the doesnt afgect the track but its rarely happen now. have you tried installing the latest version?

I have the latest iTunes version installed on my mac. This is happening a lot of times. I even tried changing AAC to MP3 but it still does the same thing. Any known fix?

I have been having issues with this as well, specifically with songs purchased from the iTunes store. I started trying to see what was different from files that would process and those that wouldn't. I noticed that every file that wouldn't convert was missing the "Purchased By..." field, which for some reason didn't come down with the file when it was downloaded. I redownloaded the file from the iTunes store. That time, it came with the correct metadata. Tried to convert it, and sure enough, it processed fine. Hope this helps anyone experiencing similar issues

I am on Mavericks and iTunes 11.2.1 and the bug is still there. Conversion of most MP3 files to AAC results in a truncated file. I have tried to change the custom settings including VBR but the bug is still present.

I was converting MP3 files only becuase of the continued bug of iTunes (under Mavericks) "determined gapless playback" infromation for all MP3 files EVERY TIME iTunes is started.

I've submitted both as bugs to Apple but this combination makes iTunes virtually unusable to me.
