Is it safe to delete my pictures from Cameral Roll and how do I do this?

I have read some of the threads on what the difference is between Camera Roll and iPhone Library. I am about out of storage space on my iPhone, so I need to make room. I have 2680 pix in my Camera Roll, so I am assuming that if I delete them, I will free up space for other stuff. Two questions:

-In asking if it is safe to delete them, I want to be sure that if I delete them from the Camera Roll, that I do not actually lose them because they are in my iPhoto Library?

-If it is safe, I want to know how to delete them from the Camera Roll, because I can't seem to figure it out?

Thanks, KayDeeCee :-)

I tried this (Settings/general/usage/photo &camera then swipe across camera roll and tap delete), clicking on the the delete red box at the end. It just went back to the previous screen and did not delete the 3.4 GB. Why did it not delete?

You are doing nothing arong. As far as I know, this is a bug in the iOS. I reported it some time ago and so have some others people that I have talked to. Hopefully this was addressed in iOS 7 and it will finally work.

on ios 7 its not possible to delete it from the usage pane under photo and camera.....

Only developers have had legal access to iOS 7 until it is released tomorrow. Unless you are a developer, you are running an illegal, unlicensed version of iOS 7. If you are a developer, you are in violation of the NDA by posting what you know about the iOS in the public forums.

@Kaydeecee... Just bite the bullet and select the photos one at a time in the camera roll and then delete them. Actually, when you are in thumbnail view, after you tap the edit button, you can really run through rows and rows of photos very quickly by tapping on them. It won't take as long as you think.

Thanks everyone for your help. I appreciate it very much. I didn't realize I could only give one answer the green check and two answers a gold star. I would have liked to give several of you green checks and gold stars. I am indeed biting the bullet and deleting the one-by-one. From now on, i will agree to delete after I import photos to my Mac Book. :-) KayDee Cee
