iOS 7 Calendar List View Gone?

Just updated to iOS 7 and it looks like List View in Calendar is gone? AAACCCK! With multiple shared calendars enabled (my wife's, kids school events etc.) I'm finding it very hard to see what my day(s) look like without scrolling like crazy through graphical representations of events. I'm accustomed to just viewing the list and scanning by color of events (for example my work calendar is green).

Am I missing a setting somewhere, or is this a casualty of the redesign? I'm hoping the former, but if it's the latter I'm about to cry!

Wjs-mini, while it's true that we can often restore functionality through third-party apps, don't forget that every time we buy an app through the App Store, Apple makes money off that, too. I don't think I should have to fork over $ for something I've been using for years and have, in essence, paid for it repeatedly by investing in Apple through multiple product purchases because I liked that particular feature. If it's one of Apple's selling points, then I should get what I've been paying for. Otherwise they should just remove it from iOS installations and stop using it as part of their advertising.

I have yet to find a calendar app that doesn't sync through iCloud. They are using the account information you put into Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendar. They are pretty much just front ends for the data. You could use Fantastical on your iPhone and the built in Calendar app on your iPad (it's a bit different than the iPhone version, by the way) and it would all stay in sync.

As I do most of my appointment entries from either my iPhone or my computer, I generally pick the iPhone app I like the best. I have a collection. Right now, I'm using either Cal or Tempo, depending on my mood.

It might be easier to search if you search for iPad apps then, look at the ones that are universal.

Best of luck.

I've gone with Week Cal. Like the way it does the list view and all the configuration options. Took a look at Fantastical, but for me, Week Cal does all I need and is less than half the price.

And again, to keep beating on the dead horse, PLEASE submit courteous, constructive feedback to Apple about the loss of functionality in the iOS 7 calendar:

Although some folks at Apple do occasionally look a threads in these communities, I believe our only hope of getting back the old list and moth view formats is to keep providing feedback!

Tasa, you're right, if you buy an app that isn't free then Apple will make some profit from that. And it isn't fair that Apple may have diminished their app's functionality in your view (and mine). But you do get some value for your money if you like the 3rd party app and it provides a better experience. You might consider Apple's profit to be compensation for the vetting that they do of the apps that are submitted to the App Store.

All I'm saying is that by limiting oneself to the bundled apps you might be missing out on something better.

Well, you're assuming that the calendar app is not working the way Apple wanted it to. I think that the changes are all part of this new minimalist design notion, and that Apple would say that the changes we object to are intentional to reflect their new objectives. So you won't easily convince them that they made a mistake, although we can hope they eventually come to that conclusion.

But their way isn't necessarily the best way, and we don't have to limit ourselves to it.

Another possibility is that while everyone is posting their compaints, which is a valid thing to do, Apple may very well be working on changes and fixes that we won't see until the next "fix" release. They probably won't want to issue new fixes every week unless it involves security issues, so we may have to wait a while before discovering that Apple really HAS been listening. We can only hope.

Please Apple, bring back the proper list view.

I had events entered as all-day events as they were not time specific (more of a days to-do list), I then also had notes supporting these.

I used to be able to see all the events in a neat list for the day with the notes alongside. It was perfect.

Now I have none of this functionality, and the all-day events are squashed in a small area at the top of page. The list view from pressing the magnifying glass does give a list but it is useless, it doesn't show me the notes associated with them without me opening each entry individually.

Please put the same functionality back in the calendar as I had in ios6.

Why are so many people so reluctant to download a different calendar app from the App Store? There are many of Apple's apps that are inferior to others in the App Store. That's one of the great things about the ecosystem - an explosion of innovation.

I use Tempo. It's free. It uses exactly the same data as Calendar. In fact, it's dead simple to switch back and forth between multiple calendar apps including Apple s if I'm in the mood. Same data - all the time. No effort. Same syncing with iCloud. Absolutely no downside And with Tempo, I get some additional great features - if I add a person's name to the event, it'll find emails and contact info for me to have at my fingertips - it finds it itself - I don't have to enter any info; if I'm running late for an appointment, it's really easy to send an "I'm X minutes late" email or text; etc

Apple doesn't have to get it all right for all users all the time. There are a lot of innovative developers out there who add value to your iPhone/ iPad - often for free. I use Bloomberg for financial info, TWN For weather, lots of other camera apps, and have done so for awhile - they've historically been superior to Apple's apps for me.

I repeat - download another calendar app. No new data entry, full syncing with everything, often superior features, easy to switch back if unhappy, virtually no effort, no downside.
