IOS 7 wallpaper resizing will not shrink photo to fit screen...

After update, wallpaper stretchs larger than image. Unable to resize smaller to fit screen. My photo only measures 24k @ 261x231 and is HUGE; bigger than the screen can accommodatem (shrink). Cannot resize smaller to fit screen. Any ideas/suggestions? I have tried resizing my photo (smaller crop in size and dimensions) and photos render too large for screen. Cannot resize smaller to fit. I know I am repeating myself. Just to be clear. Am I doing something incorrectly in IOS 7? Any ideas/suggestions or similar problems solving input would be appreciated.

No true Apple user cares about work arounds. We are talking here about errors in Apple programming that has been there simce the release of iOS 7.0, years ago.

This is about the disconnect at Apple with their own programming.

Thanks iMan, but that solution does not work on all wallpaper issues. The images that are larger than the screen size have the same issue with or without the reduce motion option on.

The workarounds all do essentially the same thing, create a smaller image to use as wallpaper. The software should be able to do this on its own.

You explain it quite well, here's the issue. I've had that on my Android phone for the last two years, and yes I get that pictures need a bit of paddnig, but not to this extent. Even still I should be able to use a picture of my grandchildren and not cut two of them out because I can't resize smaller. So if it's supposed to be like this you're telling me that now every picture I take is going to be useless as wallpaper, how is this NOT a mistake or a bug?

As I said I've had wallpaper with "padding" on my phone for awhile now and it should STILL allow to resize both larger and smaller, the fact that people have said that they can resize larger but not smaller is an issue that needs addressed because those smaller photos certainly don't have that padding, and are working just fine.

As for people trolling, they're not and you're just being rude. The fact that you are offering to "fix" a picture in order for it to work, just goes to show that it's obviously a bug. Moving and resizing should be just that, with out fixing the picture outside the device. Everyone has somekind of software and the brains to reduce a picture, add to that the half dozen or so work arounds listed here already.

If it upsets you that everyone isn't just fat dumb & happy about this update then scroll past this topic go to another forum topic. geez

There are all kinds of "simple fixes". You shouldn't be required to go through extra steps. You didn't have to on ios 6. Why should you on 7? The software should be able to add the border if needed to make the image work in landscape or portrait. Most images are taken in landscape and ios 7 treats wallpaper as though it should be shot in portrait. Stop defending bad programming or design. This one feature needs fixed.

Whatever the procedure to follow, it ought to be done by the system, especially for pictures that are already in the right aspect ratio. A "set as wallpaper" function creates an expectation to find a wallpaper that corresponds to the picture as you're seeing it. Any required/desired cropping, panning or scaling should be possible from within the interface, at least to a reasonable extent.

"Intelligent" software like Apple's could even detect that a selected picture would not allow fancy parallax moves, and offer to deactivate that gimmick.

As said, it's absolutely incredible that this hasn't been caught during testing, unless of course either "the function works as intended" (and we can go XXXX ourselves) or the beta testers had strict orders to stick to Apple-provided wallpapers (noticed how most review photos feature the same horrible backdrops?) and certainly NOT try to put their usual snapshot of their favourite cat/kid/mother-in-law instead ...

Sorry I just think it's a silly thing to nit pick.. The trade off for everything else the iOS upgrade brings makes this issue seem small (to me) but that's just my opinion no need to get fired up about it.. I'm a total tech junkie but still remember the days of dial up, tube tvs and phones with no function besides call... I'm sure it will get fixed soon enough till then why not enjoy everything else you gained till the next update

That might be an issue with your device. I unplugged my iPad this morning at 6 am when I left for work, and it's been sitting for about 6 hours and is only at 99%. I used mine for a coupld hours playing draw something and reading and didn't notice any signifigantly more reduction in power than before the update and I have the reduce motion turned off.

I just got off the phone with Apple support. I let them know exactly how I feel about this latest "update". From the issue being discussed here to the just butt ugly overall appearance. I told them that as a 20 year MacAddict, I am sorely disappointed and that I would NOT be buying the beautiful gold iPhone 5s with the luscious beige leather case because this GUI is SO FREAKING UGLY with it's gawd awful bright, lime green and salmon red orange icons and buttons. I asked them if the hardware and software people actually worked together to produce a product with the level of elegance and taste that Steve Jobs would be proud of. The guy on the phone was nice, he told me that he was taking notes and would pass them along. He said others were calling in as well and that Apple actually does read these forum posts. I sure hope so...geez, so disappointed.
