IOS 7 wallpaper resizing will not shrink photo to fit screen...

After update, wallpaper stretchs larger than image. Unable to resize smaller to fit screen. My photo only measures 24k @ 261x231 and is HUGE; bigger than the screen can accommodatem (shrink). Cannot resize smaller to fit screen. Any ideas/suggestions? I have tried resizing my photo (smaller crop in size and dimensions) and photos render too large for screen. Cannot resize smaller to fit. I know I am repeating myself. Just to be clear. Am I doing something incorrectly in IOS 7? Any ideas/suggestions or similar problems solving input would be appreciated.

Absolutely agree about the contact images being cropped into circles - even when its a face, it does a godawful job of it! There was absolutely NOTHING wrong with how that side of things worked previously so why screw it up? As if that isn't bad enough, it even does that when you upload a picture to something like instagram to set your profile image!

What I wound up doing was actually pinching the photo and taking a screenshot at the same time, that way when it blew up my photo is was either the correct size or smaller, which I could just enlarge to fit the screen anyway. I didn't see too much resolution loss and I could essentially crop all the ugly background out when I enlarged it. It worked for me, it should work for you guys too.

All you need to do is add an extra 200 pixels on each side of the wallpaper. Using your image processing app, increase the image size to one of the following, depending on the device you’re targeting:

iPad 2 and iPad mini: 1,424 x 1,424
iPad 3 and iPad 4: 2,448 x 2,448
iPhone 4S: 1,360 x 1,040
iPhone 5: 1,536 x 1,040

Note that the iPhone 4 will not support parallax wallpapers, so no need to bother with making them for it.

Just leave the upper third of the image free (or fill it with something not important like clouds or sky) for the area of interest is centered on the screen.

Hey guys I found a much simpler method to this issue!!!!

go to the picture you want as your background and zoom out of the picture

User uploaded file

it should look something like this the smaller the more scale control you have of it

and while your holding the picture like that take a screenshot

THen use the screenshotted picture as your background you should be able to have the whole picture as your wallpaper

HOpe this helps!!!!!!!!!!!

What I want to know is how Apple can't just get this right. I can't imagine it's that difficult of an issue for the geniuses they have on staff. We shouldn't have to download these third party apps to perform a function as simple as setting a wallpaper. I have 2 devices. An iPad 4 w/retina and an iPhone 4S. Been nothing but disappointed with them and all of the issues I've been experiencing since this monstrosity of an update. Sorry to rant but I'm not sure why we continue to buy their products when they deny that these issues even exist. I read an article a few days ago online all about how Apple doesn't acknowledge these issues and there were a ton of comments agreeing that these issues are too far and in between to be dealt with. I'm trying to stick it out but we need this stuff fixed APPLE! Pay attention to your customers and stop trying to push brand new products.

OK! I've a work around that works every single time for me. It is actually quite simple – just go into your photos and keep taking a snapshot (home and power buttons simultaneously) of the photo you want to use, rotating sequentially vertically, horizontally, vertically, horizontally, etc., each time you take the snapshot. You will ultimately get a size that is sufficient for your wallpaper purposes. Just remember to always take a snapshot of the last one you copied – not the original.
