IOS 7 wallpaper resizing will not shrink photo to fit screen...

After update, wallpaper stretchs larger than image. Unable to resize smaller to fit screen. My photo only measures 24k @ 261x231 and is HUGE; bigger than the screen can accommodatem (shrink). Cannot resize smaller to fit screen. Any ideas/suggestions? I have tried resizing my photo (smaller crop in size and dimensions) and photos render too large for screen. Cannot resize smaller to fit. I know I am repeating myself. Just to be clear. Am I doing something incorrectly in IOS 7? Any ideas/suggestions or similar problems solving input would be appreciated.

No true Apple user cares about work arounds. We are talking here about errors in Apple programming that has been there simce the release of iOS 7.0, years ago.

This is about the disconnect at Apple with their own programming.

I don't know why people automatically think that things are bugs when they simply don't understand them. I have stated in page 6 the reason why the wallpapers work the way they do, but people seem to not bother reading the thread and just complain!

The wallpapers need to have a bleed area!!!

If you were able to set images like you could in iOS 6 you would be on here complaining that there was black around your photos when rotating into landscape or using the parallax feature. Instead of just complaining, people should learn how to make images that will work because apple won't be fixing this as it works 100% as intended!

oh come on, just simple as that, IOS6 can auto fit the picture for wallpaper (including scale the image), which is perfect!

for IOS7? the wallpapers need to have a bleed area? no way!!! what if you use a digital camera to take a picture (set at 10megapixel), tell me how you can fit the pic? again it can be done easily in ios6. (auto fit!!!!!!!!)

I have been working as IT apps support engineer for last 10 years, if not bug so what? enchancement request for the previous feature? it must be kidding!!

This is basic functionality for ios6 or any other smartphone.

Anyway i am not angry with you but if you some software backgroud, you will be very upset how silly apple made this decision!! ( intentionally or not )

Yes they need a specific amount of padding all around the edges of the screen so that there is some image to show when using the parallax effect.

And the pictures that you set in iOS 7 still auto fit exactly the same as in iOS 6 except that instead of auto-fitting to the screen they auto fit to the edge of the bleed area. Then just as in iOS 6, you can’t zoom out as this would leave some area without any pixels.

A 10MP image would work fine, but because pictures are normally taken in landscape mode, the top and bottom of the image would be auto-fit to the edges of the bleed area and then you would lose some of the sides. It works exactly the same as in iOS 6 but the image now just has to auto-fit to a point that is slightly off screen to accommodate for the parallax effect.

Here is a diagram to explain, using a 10MP image I took

If this doesn't explain it then I honestly don't know any other way.

I'm a developer of apps and games and I would have done it the same way.

Edward,

You assume that people want the parrallax feature, and want to use it.

From the sheer volume of views and comment to this tyopic(more than any other!!!!), and from people like me who have never used this forum before, it seems many many of us were happy using the previous lock\home screens features.

Infact of those who have tried the parallax feature many have found it annoying.

This should have been found out in Beta testing feedback.

The previous lock\home screen features it appears were user friendly.

I accept there are work arounds, however not all seem fit for purpose, and why should we have to source workarounds ???

If someone switches off the parallax function, they should have the option to revert back to the setting from the previous(IOS6) release for use on home\lock screens.

As a tester to trade it seems an astonishing oversight t release this without at least an explanation, one of the first things users do is to personalise their screens.

An annoyance at best a complete feck up at worst.

I understand that people might not want to use the feature, but at present you can't turn it off, just reduce it. Maybe in an update they will allow you to turn off all the motion, but until then I thought I would show people how the system was designed so that they can understand it and then use it to create wallpapers that look right. It isn't a workaround, it’s just the right way to do it.

You may find this work around useful. I always use my iPad in landscape mode so this fix works for me.

A). Take of screen lock

B). Go to photo that you want to use as wallpaper and turn iPad to portrait mode.

C). Take screenshot while in portrait position

D). Now go back into settings/wallpaper and choose screenshot.

This worked perfectly for the photo that I wanted to use although when iPad is in portrait mode you will have a grey bar at the top of the photo.

Hope this helps some people.

Appreciate any help with this, but my issue was that I had perfectly good photos on my screens, which were fine pre upgrade, now they are far too big.

I have re-sized for iphone using screenshot, but its not perfect, on ipad its far worse.

These are exisisting photos taken on my iphone, I dont want to use new photos I am for now happy with the ones I was using.

As said an annoyance.
