iTunes Match issues on iOS 7

I have been using iOS 7 since the release of the GM. Overall, I love it - however with the music app, specifically with iTunes Match I am very dissapointed as the usability, for me has gone quite backwards.

Firstly, I have some artists in my collection with vast ammounts of albums (Grateful Dead, Phish, etc). With iOS 6, accessing those artist's albums was instantaneous. In iOS 7, it takes approximately 10-15 seconds from the time I tap the artist to being able to view the albums. When trying to return to the Artists tab, it will also hang for at least 10 seconds.

Second, once within the albums of a particular artist, there is no longer the alphabetical slider along the side which allows me to quickly scrub through the albums. When there are a lot of albums, scrolling manually through every album (and song) is quite tedious. I honestly can't believe how much of a step back this is. Albums no longer are listed alphabetically, now they are listed based on release date.

These issues have me wihing I coud go back to iOS 6, even though the rest of the new interface is great. I can't believe how much worse the music app is now. I can't believe no one at Apple has a music library containing artists with large discographies.

If there isn't a fix to these issues, I will have to cancel my iTunes Match subscription because it is simply too frustrating waiting for things to load and not being able to browse albums efficiently.

If anyone is aware of a fix, or is also frustrated by these issues, please let me know.

Good Luck to all of you if this doesn't solve the problem! 😉

What, exactly is the effect of doing this? After your device came back up, what state was it in? Apps still there? Email accounts still there? What was reset? I'm willing to try it, but don't want to have to reload my phone. Does it just reset iOS settings back to default?

I hope this did fix it for some folks, but not for me.

After the complete reset, it's true that my songs appeared in Music app, even with iTunes Match turned on. Some played. Others crashed Music app. Eventually, the dreaded 'Loading iTunes Match' message appeared.

However, as I type this message (on my MBA) I'm getting a progress bar on the iPad saying "Loading iTunes Match." So I wait with bated breath to see what happens when the progress bar completes.

Yes, this works and only resets iOS settings back to default (no big deal)!

I was hesitant but very happy now that I tried it!

End of progress bar, and ... Yes, it appears my songs are back. But don't celebrate yet.

I go to Settings to double check if iTunes Match is turned on. Yes, it is. So, back to Music app, and ...

"Loading iTunes Match" message again!!! This time it only lasted about 10 seconds, and the song list appeared.

Not all is happy in paradise, though: I'd say about 75% of my cover art is missing. Some of it is just plain WRONG: cover art for one album appears on Abbey Road (both of these are albums that I bought through iTunes store).

Most of the songs that were on the iPad now show an iCloud download icon. So, I click on that icon to download the song, and BAM ... Music app crashes.

Return to Music app and guess what? You guessed it! "Loading iTunes Match" message greets me.

Seriously Apple???????

Literally just resets your settings like wallpaper, preferences, sounds for ringtones/ texts and things like that but keeps your apps arranged properly and data on the device...

iTunes Match worked for a bit after this but now All of my playlists are gone from the iPhone 5! Also, now iTunes 11.1 will not update iTunes Match and my iPad just lost all of its playlists as well!

Was fighting this problem all day, thought it was something strange on my network.

Just got my MacBook and iMac both working. Hope this helps others....here is what I did (I don't know what steps here are important, I'm just documenting all steps I took in hopes its reproducible for others).

1. Signed out of Match on both computers.

2. Closed iTunes on both computers.

3. Went to System Preferences->iCloud and signed out on both computers.

4. Forgot my password (whoops), so had Apple send new one.

5. Signed in with new password into Preferences->iCloud

6. Launched iTunes - Activated Match again on both computers.

Poof! Suddenly music is on both computers with no forever "accessing iTunes" message. Please someone else test and see if this is reproducible.
