iTunes Match issues on iOS 7

I have been using iOS 7 since the release of the GM. Overall, I love it - however with the music app, specifically with iTunes Match I am very dissapointed as the usability, for me has gone quite backwards.

Firstly, I have some artists in my collection with vast ammounts of albums (Grateful Dead, Phish, etc). With iOS 6, accessing those artist's albums was instantaneous. In iOS 7, it takes approximately 10-15 seconds from the time I tap the artist to being able to view the albums. When trying to return to the Artists tab, it will also hang for at least 10 seconds.

Second, once within the albums of a particular artist, there is no longer the alphabetical slider along the side which allows me to quickly scrub through the albums. When there are a lot of albums, scrolling manually through every album (and song) is quite tedious. I honestly can't believe how much of a step back this is. Albums no longer are listed alphabetically, now they are listed based on release date.

These issues have me wihing I coud go back to iOS 6, even though the rest of the new interface is great. I can't believe how much worse the music app is now. I can't believe no one at Apple has a music library containing artists with large discographies.

If there isn't a fix to these issues, I will have to cancel my iTunes Match subscription because it is simply too frustrating waiting for things to load and not being able to browse albums efficiently.

If anyone is aware of a fix, or is also frustrated by these issues, please let me know.

THIS is my biggest complaint, and why I started this thread. The server issues are almost to be expected, and we all know Apple will eventually sort this out. My real concern is that they may not restore the functionality it had in iOS 6. Like you I also have an extensive Miles collection, but I also have approx 300 Grateful Dead albums and 100 Phish albums. Trying to navigate through those artists is painfully tedious now. In iOS 6, I could use the alphabet slider to nav through the albums at a glance and find what I'm looking for. Now to get from the top to the bottom of a particular artists discography, I have to manually scroll through every single song. *** Apple? How can you go so far backwards in feature functionality? If the previous navigation isn't restored, iTunes Match is useless to me and I will cancel my subscription.

I agree with you pd18, and Darryl. Yet, there is no forum to discuss the music app solely. So, this will have to do for the time being.

The one thing the senior technician said to me is that the more people call and complain about something, the greater the chance that it will be rectified.

I did so in a very calm, respectful manner and he was very receptive to my concerns. SO, my suggestion to anyone else who feels disappointed in this removed functionality is to call in to Apple Care support and express your concerns in much the same way i did.

That way, if we make our collective voices heard, they'll reintroduce the functionalities we had in the first place.

It is being discussed in an iTM thread because normally people would not have 300+ albums listed under a single artist stored locally on an iPhone. Because we use iTM to access our full libraries of music, how the app lists those tracks becomes relevant to iTunes Match as a product.

While it's under the Match category, it's sort of hijaacked a Match issues thread that discusses problems with the Match feature. I think you'd get more response by creating a new thread to discuss as this one has sort of died down now that the Match feature is working properly.

No worries, you're not alone. Still doesn't work for me. I've reset all my settings, disabled/enabled on all my devices etc. Just doesn't work. Sometimes my playlists load. And then when I click play, it starts just skipping songs. And then suddenly one song starts to play. Or not. And now it doesn't load my playlists again.

It's just flaky as ****.

Weird. It's been fully working for me since yesterday, and considering the complaints in this thread about the problem have all but gone away, it seems Apple did something yesterday that "flipped a switch" to make it start working.

This morning I have been working with Match, adding albums to my library, and Match works flawlessly and quickly.

I was afraid with the 5S/5C traffic we'd have another "yesterday" but so far, so good.

Sorry to hear you're having a problem. Did you try the RESET ALL SETTINGS thing?
