iTunes Match issues on iOS 7

I have been using iOS 7 since the release of the GM. Overall, I love it - however with the music app, specifically with iTunes Match I am very dissapointed as the usability, for me has gone quite backwards.

Firstly, I have some artists in my collection with vast ammounts of albums (Grateful Dead, Phish, etc). With iOS 6, accessing those artist's albums was instantaneous. In iOS 7, it takes approximately 10-15 seconds from the time I tap the artist to being able to view the albums. When trying to return to the Artists tab, it will also hang for at least 10 seconds.

Second, once within the albums of a particular artist, there is no longer the alphabetical slider along the side which allows me to quickly scrub through the albums. When there are a lot of albums, scrolling manually through every album (and song) is quite tedious. I honestly can't believe how much of a step back this is. Albums no longer are listed alphabetically, now they are listed based on release date.

These issues have me wihing I coud go back to iOS 6, even though the rest of the new interface is great. I can't believe how much worse the music app is now. I can't believe no one at Apple has a music library containing artists with large discographies.

If there isn't a fix to these issues, I will have to cancel my iTunes Match subscription because it is simply too frustrating waiting for things to load and not being able to browse albums efficiently.

If anyone is aware of a fix, or is also frustrated by these issues, please let me know.

I've had also a lot of problems with iTunes Match after updating to iOS7 on my phone. The thing that worked for me was disabling/enabling my iTunes Match account on my Mac (all the artwork was gone afterwards...noooooo), then I did the same thing on my phone and it started to sync for a while. Once the syncing was over all the music was back available...but didn't play. So I tried to download a song on my device, instead of streaming it. Then I needed to confirm the new iTunes aggreement...and it worked! I'm really excited that is working again and I hope that this was useful for everyone who still have problems with the service.

This is a good tip. I tried that, and indeed I got the iTunes agreement box (which I already had agreed on on my Mac when I installed iTunes). So I answered "Yes" (the greatest lie of the internet, as if anyone ever reads those). I could then download a song. Still no luck. Went back to the downloads in iTunes (on iPhone) after a while. All downloads were giving an error, but now it asked for my password again. Gave my password. Tried to download again. Now it worked.

It now seems to work; I just tried 2 different songs and they started playing.

So it seems to be (in part at least) due to some buggy license agreement code. Holy crap, did I really loose all those hours because Apple wants to play the legal game all the time? Jeez.

I have some similar challenges. Once i upgraded to iOS 7, my iPhone doesn't show the correct total counts for the songs and the albumart is missing in several songs/albums. I had to manually into each of the albums but the counts are still wrong. Also if i change the album name in itunes, the update is not visible in the iPhone. I do see the update in my other Mac's that have iTunes Match enabled, but not in the iPhone. This is frustrating.

Well now I upgraed my iPad to iOS 7 and that shows a completely different list. Different artist name from my iTunes and iPhone 5, different song count from my iTunes and iPhone 5 and some songs listed under Compilations which I do not have any songs marked as Compilations and my iPhone 5 does not show anything either but the iPad does. Everyhing is disconected and nothing matches to what I actually have in the cloud.

It worked for me this way:

1) Turn off itunes match in settings> music> itunes match

2) Do a reset by pressing and holding the power and home button at the same time until the Apple logo appears

3) Connect your phone to your Mac/PC and open iTunes

4) Go to Devices on iTunes and click on the music tab

5) Add any Playlist you want on your iPhone then sync

6) On the iPhone, enable itunes match and wait

Well, that's about it

OK, this is how your fix IMatch so that your music on your Mac/PC matches the music on your iphone with Icloud.

ON your Iphone/Ipad: Go to Settings: ITunes & App Store

Tap apple ID, sign out and then turn off Itunes match

Next on your iphone/ipad go to Settings: Music: sign out of your apple id and turn off Itunes match

On your IMAC/PC, sign out of Itunes

Restart your Iphone by pressing the home key and the on/off button at the same time until the apple icon appears.

Go back to your imac/pc and sign back into itunes

Go to settings on your iphone, tap Itunes & app store. Sign on with your apple id and password, turn on Itunes match. Next go to settings tap on Music, sign in with your apple id and turn on itunes match.

Hope this works for your...it worked for me.

This indeed seems to do something useful. Which is completely crazy, because I have to go through this procedure for every device. I did something like this 2 days ago for my iPhone and it started working. I now did it again for my iPad, which I couldn't get to work. It only started working there when I again signed out of iTunes on my Mac. Completely ridiculous... I guess I'll have to do the same for my wife's iPhone, her iPad, the Apple TV etc, her computer... Grrrrrrr!

EDIT: For me the result of these steps is that it finally loads information from iTunes Match (I see my playlists etc.), but I still cannot play music. On my iPhone I could fix that by downloading at least one song. Somehow that trick doesn't work on my iPad yet. So stil not working. *^%!@#$
