iTunes Match issues on iOS 7

I have been using iOS 7 since the release of the GM. Overall, I love it - however with the music app, specifically with iTunes Match I am very dissapointed as the usability, for me has gone quite backwards.

Firstly, I have some artists in my collection with vast ammounts of albums (Grateful Dead, Phish, etc). With iOS 6, accessing those artist's albums was instantaneous. In iOS 7, it takes approximately 10-15 seconds from the time I tap the artist to being able to view the albums. When trying to return to the Artists tab, it will also hang for at least 10 seconds.

Second, once within the albums of a particular artist, there is no longer the alphabetical slider along the side which allows me to quickly scrub through the albums. When there are a lot of albums, scrolling manually through every album (and song) is quite tedious. I honestly can't believe how much of a step back this is. Albums no longer are listed alphabetically, now they are listed based on release date.

These issues have me wihing I coud go back to iOS 6, even though the rest of the new interface is great. I can't believe how much worse the music app is now. I can't believe no one at Apple has a music library containing artists with large discographies.

If there isn't a fix to these issues, I will have to cancel my iTunes Match subscription because it is simply too frustrating waiting for things to load and not being able to browse albums efficiently.

If anyone is aware of a fix, or is also frustrated by these issues, please let me know.

I've had the same problems. I solved it, after trying several times to turn on/off itunes match without success 😠, simply by:

1. deactivate iTunes Match in settings

2. close the music app

3. activate iTunes Match in settings

4. shut down iPhone without using the music app before!

5. restart the iPhone

After this procedure, everything is working as it should. 🙂 Hope this will help!

This worked for me. Thank you for the suggestion!

Tried fumbananana's steps - I saw my entire iTunes library for maybe 1.5 seconds, then quickly hijacked by "Loading iTunes Match."

I heard Apple was already prepping iOS 7.0.1, 7.0.2 and 7.1; thinking we'd better only need an egg timer before a fix for this is released.

you must have less than 8 songs in your entire library then. How else could you see your ENTIRE library is just 1.5 seconds? 😉

Just started working for me. It had hung at the "Updating iTunes Match..." screen for about an hour (after trying everything), I just checked it again and the blue status indicated nearly complete. A few minutes later my music showed up.

Album art is not showing up, and music is still not streaming 😟. Tried a few tracks and it just hangs on 0:00.

Glad to see some movement. Hopefully this means they are fixing the problem.

I had those symptoms YESTERDAY after first updating to iOS7. All tracks were there on my iPhone, but those in the cloud would just stick at 0:00 but looked like they were playing. It got worse from there.

Try turning OFF match and then back ON in settings. I bet you'll be stuck at the "loading..." page again!

Some album art is loading now. Still no music streaming. I'd rather not toggle it as you suggested...my thoughts are that their servers are being slammed (probably because they need to be upgraded) and the connection speed is a trickle. I think they are actively working on the problem now. Patients....

I don't think that it is showing the entire itunes match library. What shows up initially I believe are just the tracks that have been purchased through itunes. those are the only songs that show up on my phone at all, and when i toggle the itunes match function, it appears to be this list that shows up for a flash, before switching to "Loading iTunes Match..", where it stays for hours upon end.

I've tried just about all the fixes listed here and none are working. I guess it's just a wait for it to get fixed on their end.

I'm on with them now for the second time, detailing the problem and telling them of all the posts here indicating an issue. This guy is now looking at the posts here on the forum. He appears to be just tier 1 support, so I don't expect a resolution from him. I'm just reporting the problem. Again. And that it doesn't appear unique to me.

I did an online chat with them a few hours ago and was escalated to a teir 2 advisor.

They indicated that while there isn't an "outage", the engineers are aware of people having this issue and are trying to get it resolved. They also said that it does have to do with the high number of people trying to activate and server load.

The guy I talked to just responded to my email — which had a link to this thread — acknowledging that there must be a problem going on, given the amount of people who are running into it. He attached a link to this forum discussion to my support ticket, for when I call back tonight to speak with someone from the engineering team. If they don't already know about it, they will soon. I just hope there's a way to fix it. Because at this rate, it's blocking me (and all of us for that matter) from our Matched music.

Well I just got off with senior level support after tier 1 escalated. This guy had me as a last resort uninstall everything Apple related on the computer, because that's protocol. I'm seeing now if that worked, but we both doubt it would. He indicated that they are starting to see emails come in of various places there are issues and iTunes Match is on the list, although the service is STILL not being reported as officially "down."

His suggestion is that Apple is aware of it now, and to hang tight while they work on it if it doesn't come back for you momentarily.

And to note, this is NOT an issue with the iOS 7 or iTunes 11.1 update. Something is wrong on Apple's end, not the updates. Many of us have posted we have the problems on iOS 6 and iOS 7, iTunes 11.0 and iTunes 11.1.

ETA: The complete uninstall of everything did not work, as expected.

I find that a little hard to believe. I admit to having a very bumpy start with iTunes Match not uploading many of my album artworks to iCloud, back on iOS 6. And it mishandled some of the artist categorizations. But I was eventually able to manually work my way through it.

It seems a little too convenient that iOS 7 comes out on the same day that iTunes Match mysteriously goes to ****. When it finally DID stop "Loading" my library, it lost nearly all of the album artwork, and custom categorizations and metadata for tracks that weren't purchased through iTunes.
