I have this problem too, my iPad ok but iPhone 5 just says waiting for activation and is the same for FaceTime.
Wondered if there'd be a **** up with this upgrade.
Same exact problem. iMessages, FaceTime and push notifications won't work,
if you know how to fix this please tell me.
have a nice day 🙂
This may seem weird but try turning of documents and data in iCloud settings. I saw this in another discussion as the solution to a typing lag problem with iOS 7. It fixed my typing issue and I was also able to activate iMessage and Facetime instantly, after hours of trying other methods. Odd issue but it seems to have worked. I don't use documents and data in iCloud anyway, so turning it off dosen't bother me, although it still will need fixed by Apple at some point.
Sorry for the typo. I meant turn OFF documents and data in icloud...
Guys I have tried everything. Including calling apple. It's been escalated to a higher level. I have restored my iphone waited 24 hrs. Restored from iTunes. Tried the time zone solution. Tried it all NOTHING. Will give it another few days. iPad and old iphone4 works no problem. Iphone5 no face time or Imessaging.
Go to Settings-->General-->Reset-->Reset Network Settings and it should fix. I had the same problem!
Yup I tried that. Same issue!!
The is BS I waited 3 hours just to Download and Install IOS 7 now, I can't get iMessage or Factime to work, my alerts arent working, and I'm not happy c'mon Apple.
Honestly if you backup your iphone then restore it, then redownload the backup it will work. Trust me I have tried everything, and now this has worked and I could not be more relieved.
It sure does suck. I am in Germany for Oktoberfest can't use my iphone5 to imessage guess I will be using my old iphone to do the job. Hopefully this stuff is fixed by next week. Till then Prost!!
Just thought I'd add in the fun. I've tried everything on the lists (restore, date/time, reset, etc...). Still unable to connect here.
Apple told me to do a full restore if it wasn't working in 24 hours. (After I told them I had already done that.) They didn't seem to have all their ducks in a row when I spoke to them. 😕 The girl who I spoke with, admitted as much when I said so. Hasn't this happened after each major update? You think they'd figure this out by now.
Step by step:
1. Do a backup ON YOUR COMPUTER... Not to iCloud
2. Go to settings > general > reset > erase all content and settings
3. Then... When the phone does it's thing and comes back up.. Follow instructions
To restore from most recent backup you just did in step 1
Follow the rest of the prompts to add iCloud acct./FaceTime/iMessage etc.
4. This whole process will likely take a FULL 20 minutes from start to finish (not including downloading
Your music content.. That may take longer depending on your connection, the amount of stuff in your
Media library)
5. This should fix the problem... remember, apples servers are flooded with down loaders also. So iMessage and FaceTime (which also depend on apples servers could be spotty for a bit)
6. Nothing is EVER perfect.. But following these steps worked for me...
Wish you the best
Edit: The forum administrator already removed the part of my comment with the fix. Google this:
FIX - iOS 7 Developer Build beta 1 - iMessage and FaceTime issues - RESOLVED!
and your answer is the first result.
Basically when iOS 7 was released, Apple's servers were overloaded not only with the immense amount of downloads but also the immense amount of activation requests for the software itself. Becuse the servers weren't functioning properly, a lot of people were able to install iOS but not activate it and are stuck in a kind of activation limbo. That's why iMessage and Facetime aren't working. That's why you probably have popups in most of your apps asking to connect to itunes for push notifications. Cheers.

I was having the same issue and I only could send imessage via apple ID, not my phone number.
I just waited until apple fixes their server and when I just checked, it is working and can send imessage via my phone number too.
I guess if everything doesn't work, you have to just let it sit and wait.
ok so we all have the imessage and facetime login issue, I have two iphone 4s one with ios 7.0 and the other with older ios.. the problem wasn't isolated to ios 7 because I cant log into imessage or facetime on either phone
tried all the tips listed in post's and some on youtube, still nothing
then I recalled that it made me enhance my password, i had three letters the same for the first part of the original password, that wasnt allowed any longer.. ok then i had to add at least on capital letter as well, ok cool got it all submitted new passcode
ok password works, I signed in here to the fourm..
well on my sons iphone, yes a third phone.. he had updated his password with the last ios update so he never had to change his password, and his update went flawless and everything works,
just saying... think its just a glitch on apple server not updating
iOS 7 iMessage won't activate
