This is just an idle thought. Since iOS 7 is really geared for the more powerful processor and the retina screen, buying the replacement iPad (which was your intention) would probably solve your problems. Since only you can decide, go to your local Apple Store or Best Buy and check out the current iPad with retina screen.

I would not judge iOS 7 on such an old piece of hardware.

Again, this is just an idle thought.

Have a great day, and enjoy your new iPad!

Fair point Boyd but misses the main complaint. It is simply the appearance of the thing I cannot abide. It is so vague as to impede clarity; Come on , what do you think of the home screen on safari? it is greyed out virtually and the keyboard is ,,,,,well, just wet. For those who think it is the functional efficiency of the system that matter I disagree; the design of apple products is one of the things that has always stood out; this is terrible. I have no issue shelling out good money for a new tablet but I won't do it on ipad 5 just to see of it improves the appearance of IOS 7 for me. I await the appearance of Mavericks with some trepidation!

I will rephrase my idle thought. The iOs 7 is geared to the retina screen, and your concern about the look of the screen would change once you see the current iPad at your local Apple Store. Since you are not going to buy a replacement tablet until October, wait until the iPad sold in the Apple Store has iOS 7 and check it out.

Have a great day.

Yes I did it last night on my 64GB Ipad 2 3G model (verizon wireless). It actually took well less than an hour to download then another 30-45 minutes to finish installing. All in all, everything seemed fine until I tried to play a video. Sound is fubar. It appears the device is over driving the signal and creating a ton of distortion. Reducing the volume does nothing to alleviate this aside from making the distortion and usable sound quieter but the problem is still there. This issue occurs with the built in speaker, wired headphones or bluetooth headphones.

Apple development team please fix this issue asap or provide a way for me to downgrade back.!

I have an iPad 2 also. When iOS 5 came out, I thought that the iCloud thing was not that much of a good idea and nothing else was new in this update, so I skipped. When iOS 6 arrived, there was nothing I could do but skip it: Facebook integration (why?), removal of Google Maps and YouTube (why?) and most of all MANY WiFi problems on iOS 6.1.3 for iPad 2 users... So I'm still on iOS 4.3.2! I was hoping for a good iOS 7, so I could finally update and be able to use my apps that are now all uncompatible with iOS 4... I wish I could get the iOS 5 update!

Anyway, I commented so I could keep track of this discussion... Thanks all for your opinion!
