Upgraded to iTunes 11.1 and now it won't recognize my iPhone

I have followed all the steps suggested in the various posts. BUT, I have a PC with Windows XP, and I just got the iphone 5s last Fri. and I have had to unistall and re-install Itunes at least 15 times since then. Once with an Apple tech on the phone guiding me thru all the components that you have to uninstall and there are 5. I then reinstall and when I plug into the usb it recognizes my phone. And it will work fine , maybe all day, plugging and unplugging. And then , tonight , I shut down my computer and restarted it. Surprise!! NO iphone recognition. So back to reinstall. And I went thru the whole device manager steps. I guess I'll try an Apple tech one more time. But there's really no excuse for itunes to be that unstable . It works fine for years on my PC without a phone connection. So if anyone has any NEW suggestions . Sure would appreciate it. I'm not giving up yet. But, man, that's a lot reinstallations for my taste.

This has completely killed my phone which now wont turn on after error 3194 i phone could not be restored - any ideas please?

I have the same issue. Update to 11.1 and my iphone 4 and iPad to new iOS7. Both synced fine to itunes then update to 7.0.2 on iPhone try to get back on computer to sync and phone and ipad wouldn't show up in itunes. Kept gettinga message of do you trust this computer or some nonsense. Of course pressed trust this computer and nothing happened. Checks USB cord restart itunes and computer and nothing. My Mac was picking up my phone bc iPhoto popped up but itunes didn't recognize it all. If someone could please help me that would be great and save me a 4 hr car drive to the apple store.

Thanks heaps!! I hate upgrades!!! Why dont the two companies talk and stop making paying customers sooooo frustrated .... Dare I wish for the old days of Nokia Mobile with no gadgets at times....??!!!!

THANK YOU! Between the two of you...problem solved. All the while I thought I was having a problem because my iPhone was recently hacked (if that is the right term for it?), and I had to install a new sim card.

Who knew that so many people were having a problem after upgrading iTunes, and to make things more complicated, I just got a new Windows 8 PC. You two saved my sanity!
