Upgraded to iTunes 11.1 and now it won't recognize my iPhone

I had the same problem and did the follwoing:

Uninstalled the following:

Apple iTunes

Apple Application Support

Apple Mobile Device Support

Re-installed apple iTunes without the phone connected to the USB the restarted PC.

Just plugging the iphone(5 with ios7) it was recognized and the USB internet tethering worked as well.

WoW...I thought I was the only one that used his old iPhone as an iPod...and I was freaking, too, when ITunes wouldn't recognize my "iPod", because I transfer all my downloaded songs to it. But davidsh_seattle saved the day!!!

i often had this happen, all i ever had to do is go into SERVICES on my computer and "restart apple mobile device" and "iPod mobile device".

Doesn't work for me. When I get to the last part, it states there are no drivers in the file I selected.

This is getting ridiculous. Crappy software that Apple has been putting out.
