Albums view/listing in music app in iOS 7

Just updated to iOS7, and seriously what did you/Apple think with the new album (un)grouping of albums when you enter an artist in the Music app?

Do their developer have a music collection at all? I just can't believe albums aren't listed without the tracks as before. At least an option to have that view, but seriously that view should still be default.

And when we're on it, why don't they add a feature so you could add the currently playing song to a playlist?

Yes, it is an absolutely disaster. I have never downgraded software in my life, until two days ago - I went back to iOS 6. Music app is unusable now, unless you are a record collector. Those seem to be the only ones pleased with this.

Isiah's response higher up in the thread is right on.

"Record collectors" are actually the ones most displeased with the new Music app, because they tend to have lots of albums they like to browse by artist, which the new Music app has thoroughly borked, and they want their music player to respect album boundaries when playing music and shuffling, which the new Music app does not do.

Add me as well. The new music views ("album wall") are an atrocity against humanity. When phone is rotated you just get an unsorted grid of all album art work! Not alphabetized, nor does it "center" on the currently playing album.

Apple, no clue what you were thinking here, but this needs to be fixed soon! Thinking about restoring to my iOS 6 backup; as the music is probably the next biggest usage i have outside of making and taking calls or texts.

I hope everyone submits the feedback at least once a day until it's fixed. This was a conscious design decision. They did the same thing to the Remote App back in January, except they haven't yet inflicted the hybrid album/songs list on the Remote App. However, like the new Music app, the Remote App stopped respecting album boundaries when entering through Artists view, treating all songs by an artist as belonging to an implicit playlist, such that it's impossible to play or shuffle a single album. I started a thread on the Remote App back in January which describes the same things the Music app is doing now:

I see no other conclusion other than, this is clearly how they think it should work, which is why submitting voluminous amounts of feedback is going to be important. As you can see, I didn't get any replies to my Remote App thread, and the feedback I submitted for it was ignored.

The most frustrating thing for me is that you can no longer hold down a song/album to see the full title if the title is longer than the screen. If you listen to a lot of classical music, you know how important this is, since in classical music, titles are often very long and differ only in the last few words:

Piano Sonata No. 1 in F Minor, Op. 2, No. 1: I. Allegro

Piano Sonata No. 1 in F Minor, Op. 2, No. 1: II. Adagio

Piano Sonata No. 1 in F Minor, Op. 2, No. 1: III. Menuetto (Allegretto)

Piano Sonata No. 1 in F Minor, Op. 2, No. 1: IV. Prestissimo

iPhone's screen can only fit "Piano Sonata No. 1 in F M" and there is no anymore an easy and convenient way to see the full title. This also applies to Playlists view, as most of the space is now taken by album art.

Also, you can't delete entire albums anymore if you want to free space. You have to do it song by song. Guess what, I have complete works albums (bought from iTunes) with hundreds of songs. It will take while deleting them track by track. The lost functionality for no good reason is very frustrating.

By the way, the design flaws of the new Music app were actually known for a long time. On MacRumors forums, there is a 14-pages topic about that started back in June: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1601540&highlight=music+app

No, you have slightly the wrong idea.

What you do is to set your iPad to receive all your music, including that in iMatch. Find on the iPad what you want to play, and then air play to the Apple TV.

The Apple TV update then recognises what you have selected, and plays and downloads the tune itself, bypassing the iPad. That is rather clever I thought, and explained on the Apple TV interface somewhere.

So that is why I think the remote app is being dropped.
