iOS 7 and Audiobook Chapters

I've tried to get the better control you indicate but frankly it still hops around, just no way to get good accuracy of moevement throughout the recording that I can find

I'm really disappointed at seeing the chapter view removed from audiobooks in iTunes. "Navigating" to the next or the previous chapter just isn't good enough. I'm a foreign language teacher and have been using iTunes for my listening comprehension exercises. If I cannot navigate to the exact chapter I need that instant, I can no longer use this very efficient method for my listening inputs. This makes me very, very angry, the more so since not allowing chapters seems absolutely daft: the old iOS had it, without being any the worse for it.

By the way, not having the chapter view for my private audiobooks is a nuisance as well, but there at least I have the choice and can restart using the audible app on my mobile phone.

I found the app 'Audiobooks player' from Mario Adrian to be a good one.

A bit foolish to remove this great feature!

Audible will play books directly from your iPhone and show chapters, but only for Audible books. It will play non-Audible books but not show the chapters, even if you have converted a book to an m4b file and chaptered it yourself.

Thanks for the tip! I dont see much detail on this app though. Do you know if it has bookmarks? I mean does it remember where you left off?

Stunning that Apple removed the 'Remember Position' feature:

Like a lot of people, audiobooks is my main iPhone use, and I like to have several books going. when I move from one to the other cant find where I left off.

So, wondering your experience with this app, which is a bit pricey?

IT WOULD NEVER HAVE OCCURRED TO ME THAT APPLE WOULD DOWNGRADE THE SOFTWARE FOR LISTENING TO AUDIBLE BOOKS IN IOS 7. I SPEND A LOT OF TIME LISTENING TO BOOKS ON MY IPHONE. NOW IT IS GOING TO BE NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO DO SO. I DON'T HAVE TIME TO WASTE SCRUBBING THROUGH A 15 HOUR BOOK ON A LITTLE TINY BAR TO FIND MY PLACE SEVERAL TIMES A DAY.

PLEASE GIVE US BACK OUR CHAPTER LIST AND ALLOW US TO SEARCH THROUGH INDIVIDUAL CHAPTERS, NOT A WHOLE BOOK AT ONCE!!!! PLEASE DO THIS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

IF YOU DO NOT PLAN TO FIX THIS, PLEASE TELL US HOW TO CHANGE BACK TO IOS 6.

First of all, typing in all caps is bad internet behaviour. It is akin to shouting.

One other question, related to this.

Are others experiencing their books or music playing without clicking tthe play button. I sometimes --randomly have this happen--on a regular basis. I spoke about this to two people I know also listen to books and they say it happens to them too. That's 100% of my tiny survey, but if others have the same problem, it would be nice, if Apple would add a lock button to the player screen so at the end of a session, I would put the phone down (or ipod-happens there too) knowing that it will no longer play unless I choose it to do so.

My books sometimes won't pause when connected to my car stereo system, but I attributed that to the stereo interface (BMW), not the iPhone, which I had coincidentally installed on the same day as iOS 7 release. I might have to try an older phone with iOS 6, and see if it happens with that one as well.

Oh for heavens sake! What is Apple thinking? And if you have iOS 7 installed on your iOS device you can't sync unless you upgrade to iTunes 11.1! This, along with the removal of the chapter listing, renders the iTunes app on my phone virtually unusable. And by extension, my iPhone is looking more and more undesirable under iOS 7. My contract with ATT expires in a month. I've been a devoted Apple user for 25 years, now have to consider if I want to stay with my iPhone. If I can't see the screen and iTunes is useless, all I need is a phone. I still have my old iPod Nano. I get audio books from my library and I am going to check out loading them onto my iPod with the Overdrive and 3M cloud apps for my MacBook Pro. Has anyone tried this?

It looks promising, but before I lay out $4.99 for an app I would like to hear from anyone who's tried it since they "upgraded" to iOS 7. So far no reviews in the App Store.

Good detective work. I haven't tried it, hopefully someone has.

Another player, Multi Audiobook Player looks promising and is 99 cents. No reviews, however.

Yes, it remembers where you left off, and it has a bookmark history, if you for some reason need to go back to where you left off before the last time.
