The Increase Contrast feature goes on Settings -> General -> Accessibility -> Increase Contrast (turn it on).

You can also try disabling the parallax effect (Settings -> General -> Accessibility -> Reduce Motion (turn it on), but it has no sensitive effect on performance or battery usage.

I also tried several reboots after closing all apps in multitask. I'll try a clean restore to see what happens.

Well it its laggy, because of the operating system its not optimized yet, its only built for 8 month, and it wasnt enough to make 4 perfect different os on any single device, but i have no laggy problem, about the laggy, its because of the "assistive touch", the iphone 5 also have this problem, the whole system went slow when this feature on, maybe a fews more updates the ipod touch would run really smoothly, maybe on 7.1,

So i think is, the apple focused on releasing the ios 7 for iphone 5, and the ipad gen, the ipod will be coming soon, because of the users are less than iphone/ipod users

My ipod touch wasnt laggy at all, its the os problem, its just like missed the frame rates on some touch range

I just bought an iPod touch 5 which came with ios6.1.3, and right now it runs buttery smooth. But so was my itouch 4 on ios 4. Ios 5 slightly reduced its perfoance, and ios 6 made it frustrating to use. Same thing happend to iPhone 3G when it went from ios 3 to 4. Got slow. I think I'm going to stay put on ios 6. Although apple is really forcing my hand here because it keeps downloading ios 7 over the air and the "other" space grew. So that ISPW is just sitting there wasting space I could be using.

I recently purchased the 5th generation ipod touch as well, like a week ago. I am having speed issues as well, constant lag, freezing, etc. i can type something up and when i am done typing, the ipod is still playing catch-up. The battery is also draining faster than some of my friends iphones! I try to keep the brightness down as much as possible, i put it in airplane mode whenever i can, i never use bluetooth, etc. it is on the latest iOS 7.0.4 I was able to find out that i have somehow used 72.5% of my existing ram... Any advice anyone? I have tried a hard and soft reset, and i always close out all my apps when i am finished using them so nothing is running in the background.
