How do I limit the number of emails displayed in iOS 7?

I prefer to display only 100 emails from each of my mailboxes on my apple devices, but with iOS 7 it's showing all my emails, and there doesn't seem to be an option to limit this in settings as there was previously?

I have the same problem. Before the update I had my phone set to display 50 messages. Now it's diaplaying EVERY message. I'll never understand why a feature would ever be removed. Add all the new features you want, just don't remove capabilities that are already there. I would be very interested in getting a definitive answer as to whether I can chang the settings back to where they were in IOS 6.

Glad I found this thread — I'm having the same problem. I thought they had simply relocated the option to limit the number of email messages displayed, and am annoyed to hear that this feature has in fact been removed. What the ****! I can't simply "mark as read" the 549 emails that my iPhone thinks are unread, as it would change their status on my MacBook Pro. I just want to see 100 latest emails on my iPhone. Why remove this useful feature? As usual, Apple give with one hand and take away with another.

Is it possible to downgrade back to iOS6, anyone? How might I go about doing this? Thanks for any help.

I am having the same annoying problem as everyone else in this thread. I could not find any way to limit the number of emails in my three accounts to the 50 they were limited to before, so now I have more than 7000 emails on my phone. It is ridiculous when useful functionality is removed from a program in an update.

In answer to Andrew No Thanks, I seem to recall that you can revert to an earlier OS from within iTunes.

You need to delete your current hotmail account set up on your iphone.

Once this has done click 'Add Account' and select the new 'outlook.com' tab.

Set up your hotmail account again from scratch and this will then allow you to select how many weeks/months of emails you sync to your phone.

Im not sure if anyone else had a similar problem to me prior to iOS 7, but if i deleted an email from my hotmail account on my iphone - it wouldnt sync with my actual hotmail account. So when i logged in online all the emails I had deleted on my phone would still be showing as unread.

But by setting the account up as above, they now sync perfectly.

Well for me anyway 😁
