I prefer to display only 100 emails from each of my mailboxes on my apple devices, but with iOS 7 it's showing all my emails, and there doesn't seem to be an option to limit this in settings as there was previously?

For my work outlook account I use Exchange...which works perfectly.
I have the same problem and used the "mark all as read" option.
If i use "mark all as read" , close the app and re-open it has the same problem all the time.

Yes. It may 'work' with Exchange. However, the limit of stored emails is gone. Now I've got 30K+ emails on the phone!
I tried deleting and reloading one of my gmail accounts to no avail. No option to limit and the same bunch of e-mails displaying. Blarg! I think Kristi K is right, we're b**gered unless Apple decides to patch this.
You got it, I had 22,340 emails in my inbox marked as unread and after your tip, it worked perfectly. Well, kind of, I sellected all and went straight to marked as read and that was that.
Thanks. I still do not understand why Apple decided to removed the option to set a limit of emails in the iPhone.
So how do we encourage Apple to do a patch? Does anybody who works for Apple read these forums?
When i contacted Apple support via chat last night - after 30 mins - they said the feature was removed - then said sorry.
No I can not go back to IOS 6, and restoring from old backup will not work either
When I asked how to lodge a complaint about the removal of this feature they told me to go to http://www.apple.com/feedback/ .
For me mail is useless now. I moved stuff to folders, but if I click and open that folder it loads it all.
So go to http://www.apple.com/feedback/ and lodge a desire/complaint explain the issue.
I will not buy another iPhone if this does not get resolved
Thanks purpsedh, I'll def give some feedback. Perhaps if enough people do Apple will reconsider. It is pretty annoying to have a million e-mails on my phone!
you can turn off badges icon in the notification center in settings so at least you don't have to look at 5506 unread emails! still have all the emails in there though.

Loved this feature also. Hopefully they will bring it back. Delete email and readd does not work for all email addresses.
This worked for me! I have set the "Mail Days to Sync" Too one week which is far more managable than 25000 emails.
Highly recommend you DELETE you Hotmail/Live/Outlook account and Re Add it to the the phone. Then just adjust "Mail Days to Sync" to you desired setting from 1 day all the way to 1 month.

Im not sure if anyone else had a similar problem to me prior to iOS 7, but if i deleted an email from my hotmail account on my iphone - it wouldnt sync with my actual hotmail account. So when i logged in online all the emails I had deleted on my phone would still be showing as unread.
But by setting the account up as above, they now sync perfectly.

OMG! My kids made me upgrade!!! I will definitely complain. I spent an hour looking for the 50 email limit in my settings.
I'm glad that works for Hotmail and outlook - unfortunately when I tried deleting my gmail accounts there was no option to limit the time when I reinstalled them :( Has anyone got this t work with gmail?
