How do I limit the number of emails displayed in iOS 7?

I prefer to display only 100 emails from each of my mailboxes on my apple devices, but with iOS 7 it's showing all my emails, and there doesn't seem to be an option to limit this in settings as there was previously?

I have Yahoo Mail and am trying to do the same thing. I was able to limit to 50 and now I can't. I deleted the account and tried setting it up again but I don't have the option to change that. Good thing I can get a new phone in a couple of months. If Apple doesnt' acknowledge this issue and fix it, I will be looking at a different phone that does.

If anyone figures this out, please post. This is ridiculous! Let's make pretty little icons but not consider functionality!!! I am warning everyone I know not to upgrade or at least be aware before you do.

I've been using yahoo for over ten years and don't want the hassle of transferring everything. Isn't this going to unnecessarily chew up a lot of space on our phones with thousands of e-mails? This is a dealbreaker for me. Android continues to put out very appealing options now, and I think their are many of us that would consider changing phones, where we wouldn't have in the past.

Ned - I know my battery is draining faster than usual with all these emails. They should have a way to revert back when serious issues are discovered. Besides the email issue there is some concerns about security and work might make me remove my work email due to that.

I sent my feedback to Apple. Next is to check with cell carrier to see how soon I am eligible for a different phone. Apple might not have long to fix this before they lose me to Android.

Here's what I did for Gmail. This solves the problem by limiting the number of messages that are available for your phone/ipad to download. It will drastically reduce the size of your mailbox on your handset (which was my main goal). Your messages are still fully searchable within Gmail, but your Inbox is much smaller.

From your Gmail inbox:

- Type in the search bar (everything between the quotes but not including the quotes) "in:inbox after:1999/1/1 before:2013/1/1" - this will select all messages newer than 1/1/1999 but older than 1/1/2013

- Under the search bar click the check box

- A little yellow bar will pop up saying "Select all messages that match this search"

- Next to the check mark, push the button for "Archive" - this will move all messages between 1/1/1999 and 1/1/2013 from your Inbox folder to your [All Mail] folder

Your phone will now only have messages newer than 1/1/2013. Obviously you can tweak the dates in the search above to suit your needs.

This got me from 9,000 Gmail messages on my phone to about 700.

Bug Report
Surely you didn't make this change on purpose so it must be a bug. The user forums say that the option to limit the number of emails displayed in the mail app was removed. This has left many users with a display of tens of thousands of emails displayed. Please release a patch fixing this - it is extremely annoying to lose a feature that makes sense. At the very least, please let your users know why this feature was removed.

Unfortunately there's no easy fix for yahoo mail at this point. I had over 5000 messages in my inbox and went crazy when I say them in my new iPhone 5s. Anyhow, after reading the reply about Gmail, I pretty much did the same thing with my Yahoo account. I created a folder and named it "Old" or something like that and transferred all of the 5000+ emails there and probably left the last 50 or so in my inbox. Then I deleted the yahoo account in mail and re-added it. It got fixed and shows those messages I left in my inbox. Hopefully it will be fixed soon but for now this way worked for my Yahoo account. Hope it helps some of you guys.
