Email problem after iOS 7 update

After upgrading to iOS 7, all of the emails in my account are showing as unread on my notifications but they aren't there to actually read/mark read. So I have a notification that says I have literally over 40,000 unread emails. I am extremelly anal about notifications on my phone, and it's already driving me nuts that I can't clear them...Can anyone please HELP?

This worked for me as well. I had tried it just with the inboxes that supposedly had unread emails and that didn't work. Doing it for ALL INBOXES did the trick. This worked instantly on my iPhone but took two tries on my iPad - the first time it froze (but my iPad has been freezing since the download... and that's a whole nother problem!).

Thank you!

My OCD can be happy now.

While some of these tricks may temporarily work for many... temporarily...., the simple fact that some of us have 10's of thousands of unread emails and dozens of active email accounts should tell you that these tricks are just bandaids for what is an emerging business workflow conflict with our new iOS.

I don't want to mark emails I haven't read as "read"

I don't want to consolidate my POP accounts into a Microsoft Exchange account

I don't want to have to manage this problem on into the future... nor should you

I like the new look and feel of the Mail app and some of the new features, but I'm hoping to find a clear answer as to why the "mail days to sync" control was removed, and more importantly if it is gone forever?

Unfortunately, the unread ones came back in less than 24 hours on my iPhone. My iPad is still clear for now.

Jeez I hope they fix this bug soon. And while they're at it, add a feature so we can change the order of the email inboxes (rather than just as originally inputted them). I also don't like having VIP on the bottom now.

You can edit them. From the "main" mail window (where you see all of your mailboxes), click on the edit button. That will bring up the 3 lines on the right to reorder the accounts to your heart's content.

I hadn't looked for this feature until your post, and discovered there are additional options in how to display different mail "groups" (e.g. - unread mail, sent mail, etc.).
