iOS 7 forgot restrictions passcode

I have updated to iOS 7. My location services have been disabled and findmyiphone is turned on but with restricted access. However I have forgotten my restrictions pass code so am unable to turn on location services. If I try and restore iphone via iTunes it tells me I have to turn off findmyiphone first. But I can't do this because I have forgotten this restriction passcode.

Totally stuck now. Seems there is no way to reset my phone.

Any ideas?

Gustavo,

please, follow timfrommoncton steps above and make sure you're using iBackupBot app. You mentioned icopybot so, I believe you're using the wrong software to do the steps I wrote before.

You can either search for the com.apple.springboard.plist file or you can look for the file in the iPhone backup under: System Files ->HomeDomain -> Library -> Preferences.

I tested the above procedure and it works for me!

Gilson, sorry about being clueless but ibackupbot is an app for the iphone or a software I should install in my computer? I could not find the app, only the software...

Gustavo,

ibackupbot is a software you need to install on your computer (mac, linux, windows). Backup your iPad/iPhone using iTunes, open ibackupbot to change the config files as I explained, save it, and restore your backup. That's all you need to do.

Hey thanks. Found your fix using iBackupBot and tho it's out of my league changing/adding codes it has worked and broke the deadlock.

Problem was ipad taking on ios7 and switching on find my iphone, given a prompt to enter 4 digit passcde twice and then that number not working on re-activating. Saw many with same problem. My wifes a happy bunny again.

Hey Gilson,

I guess I'm not fortunate as you guys. I followed the steps and when I tried to restore from backup it says the backup was corrupted.

Now I cant even access my old back locked up.

Just wanted to say a big thank you for the comprehensive, yet concise explanation of how to solve the issue !

Awesome job ... worked perfectly for me. I got the error that I couldn't Restore From Backup as Find My iPhone needed to be switched off, so as per instructions ... I put the phone into Recovery Mode and then Backed Up and it worked perfectly.

Restrictions Code successfully set to 1234 and all working as it should now.

Thanks, StephRi0s! That was exactly what I needed. Even as it was locked, it could be completely backed up before using your measures to erase. It didn’t even matter I was disapointed at first when talking to AT&T tech support about having to erase the phone!

Hi everyone. I just upgraded from a 4s to a 5s. The sim on my 4s is disabled as I am now using my new phone. I am trying to wipe my old phone and am getting the same issues with not being able to successfully enter a reset password. I would wipe using find my phone but it isn't working as there is no carrier signal.

I also do not have a PC.

All I want to do is wipe the phone so I can sell it.

Any suggestions?

I've never tested the "Erase Data" security feature. Does it reset the phone or just just delete data from the installed apps? I would think it would reset the phone, but maybe not. Here's something someone could try if all else fails. I haven't tried it. No idea if it would work.

1. In Settings -> General -> Passcode (& Fingerprint), go to the bottom and toggle the Erase Data setting to on.

2. Lock your phone.

3. Press the home button to wake your phone.

4. On the unlock screen, type an incorrect passcode 10 times.
