iOS 7 forgot restrictions passcode

I have updated to iOS 7. My location services have been disabled and findmyiphone is turned on but with restricted access. However I have forgotten my restrictions pass code so am unable to turn on location services. If I try and restore iphone via iTunes it tells me I have to turn off findmyiphone first. But I can't do this because I have forgotten this restriction passcode.

Totally stuck now. Seems there is no way to reset my phone.

Any ideas?

Oh this HAS to be a bug, not a forgotten password!

I just tried this to sort out my wifes iPhone 4 (I was blaming her for forgetting what she set her restrictions code as), and I found the com.apple.restrictionspassword.plist file so I tried the encrypted info you gave, but after the restore, it was actually the code I entered in com.apple.springboard.plist under SBParentalControlsPIN that was the code that allowed my to access the restrictions section in settings and turn Restrictions off.

HOWEVER as soon as I went to Settings>Reset>Reset All Settings (which is what I was trying to do in the first place after I read it may help to speed up the dog slow response of iOS7 on the iPhone 4) I was asked again for the Restrictions Passcode (even though I'd turned Restrictions off at this point) and sure enough, neither the correct code nor 1234 would work! Again!!!

Now restrictions is switched back on again and I can no longer access it.

Somehow I think the settings reset is wiping the restrictions code, then resetting restrictions (defaulting?) to ON. Since there's no SBParentalControlsPIN entry any more to match to, you can never have the correct code.

I just updated to iOS 7 on my 4s and encountered the restrictions passcode, which I didn't have turned on previously. I tried the various passcodes offered here to unlock it (0000,1234,5555) without any luck. However, I tried the VERY FIRST PASSCODE I ever used on this phone and it worked!

I didn't have to wipe the phone or anything, I was able to unlock it with that original passcode. I hope this works for others too.

Thank you, gilsonmelo, for sharing your fix for this. It worked perfectly for me.

For those who are having trouble finding the correct path (as I did initially), be sure that in iBackupBot you are clicking on the + in front of the device name in the top left-hand "Backups" panel, as opposed to the bottom "Devices" panel. For me the path was Device Name-->System Files-->HomeDomain-->Library-->Preferences, and from there I searched for "springboard" to find the com.apple.springboard.plist file.

Gilsonmelo's instructions that I followed are in the sixth post on this page: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5321819?start=15&tstart=0
