iOS 7 forgot restrictions passcode

I have updated to iOS 7. My location services have been disabled and findmyiphone is turned on but with restricted access. However I have forgotten my restrictions pass code so am unable to turn on location services. If I try and restore iphone via iTunes it tells me I have to turn off findmyiphone first. But I can't do this because I have forgotten this restriction passcode.

Totally stuck now. Seems there is no way to reset my phone.

Any ideas?

Thank you gilsonmelo! Your solution at https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5321819?answerId=23056063022#23056063022 worked! (Well at least Temporarily...)

To all of those who were concerned about why restrictions were on in the first place, at least for me, something is turning it on. Without letting the device out of my sight, somehow Restrictions turned itself back on! (And naturally, I cannot find a working pass-code to get back into it!)

Since this is a seperate issue, I posted a new thread/question:

As I mention in that post, I do not want to edit plist's and restore backups every day in order to have full access to my device! So I hope something comes of this...

Good luck all!

Yeah. The first time I did it exactly the same happened. So the second time, I made sure the first thing I did was re-enable restrictions, giving it a known passcode, and kept it switched on. So far so good. I have been able to re access the restriction settings with that same passcode every time.

What will kill it for me is if I select reset settings. I have a theory that this somehow wipes one of the settings files related to the passcode but then either keeps restrictions lock on or re-enables it (by virtue of enables being the default state perhaps when there is no settings file) and since the passcode is erased, you can never "guess" the match because there's nothing to match to!

A proper bug.

Gilsonmelo solution worked on my iOS 7 iPad 2. I made the plots change as recommended and restored from iTunes and it worked like a charm.

I agree with everyone else that something strange turned restrictions on. I never would have used it but it was on last time I tried to do in app purchases. Strange indeed and hope Apple is reading these and fixing.

I had the exact same problem. I was trying to reset my phone because I got the new one but had forgotten my restrictions code and couldn't go the normal route. After looking at some other forums, I found I person that suggested using the findmyiphone app. If you go on your computer or on another phone and login you can erase your phone settings. This bypasses the restrictions code and it worked for me. I hope this helps 🙂

Can you go to : icloud.com and login in with your apple id and password from there you should be able to go to 'find my device' clicking on the specific device you are having the issue with you then can click on the area that reads 'erase device' once doing this that should take care of the issue with find my device and restrictions issues.

User uploaded fileAs far as the contacts and calendars that are stored in icloud as long as you use the same apple id with the icloud account all of the mentioned data is still store in icloud.

I also had the same issue and agree with others stating that we all could not have miraculously forgotten our passcodes. I certaintly never set a restrictions passcode given: 1) I am the sole user of my phone and 2) I am an adult. I erased my phone via iCloud and set up as a new phone, although I'm tempted to restrore using a backup which means I'll need to test out the "recovery" procedures listed early on in this discussion. Anyone have any luck with "recovery"? This definitely has to be something Apple must have inadvertantly built-in.
